Thread regarding Sears layoffs

A&E is finally out of gas.

No gas.... No work. As of late afternoon today, (05/07/2020) this gas card issue hasn't been resolved. Techs dumping tons of scheduled calls all over the country today just to make it home before they ran out of fuel in their vans.
Who can blame them? TransformCo isn't paying the bills. If the issue isn't resolved by later today, or sometime overnight, then all those A&E vans are going to sit idle in driveways and parking lots tomorrow morning. If this was just a 'glitch' in the system, this problem would have been resolved within the hour due to A&E's importance to the credit card business as a sizable client. (I heard it was Bank of America who issues these cards, but not sure of that). Whoever it is, it's quite obvious that TransformCo, or Sears, or whatever the hell we're called now, isn't paying the bills.
Tomorrow looks ominous for A&E. I think they're done tomorrow. Friday. No gas... no work. The final end of what's left of Sears. RIP!

Yeah right. I've had member transactions where St. Jude's donations go through and Sears' transactions fail to go through on the same swipe. It's so obvious that Sears has a hold on it because it's in bad standing. It isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened either. Everyone knows that Eddie doesn't pay creditors on time, it's not exactly a secret.

The card issue is because there isn't enough staffing to properly resolve the issue due to the pandemic

All true, except for the date of Wards bankruptcy (happened on 12/28/2000 and not in 2019 as the OP states):

Wow. Back in the middle 1990s . I worked for a retailer called Montgomery Wards. They had two product service divisions, Wards and A&E . The A&E division was created to capture the 3rd party retailer business. Like JC penny, and was successful for its time. It was run as an independent servicer. Not wanting the public to know that A&E service was owned or operated by Ward. The A&E techs had there own uniforms. The wards tech had there own uniform. While both both wards and A&E service vans ran down the road side by side. When Wards file for liquidation on December 28th 2019 . Sears came in and took over the product service division of Wards which included A&E . Sears hired all the techs that wanted to join sears ,and even offered a $1.000.00 sign on bonus. There vacation time was also included. Sears enabled A&E to live another 19 years. I still have a few of my old Wards A&E Shirts. Hopefully another company will come along and save A&E once again.
