Questiona About Hiring Freeze and Hiring Process (legacy Raytheon)

I'm a legacy UTC employee (Pratt & Whitney) and since completion of the merger, I've applied for several positions with legacy Raytheon (specifically with the Intelligence & Space group). For 3 of them, the status changed to "Under Review" within 24 hours after I applied, while for a 4th position, the status has been "Under Review" since mid-April.

What I'd like to know are several things:

  1. Does the hiring freeze affect legacy Raytheon, or are there certain roles under a hiring freeze?
  1. What type of advantage, if any, do legacy UTC employees have for positions with legacy Raytheon? It hasn't been communicated clearly how internal transfers would work across businesses since the merger.
  1. Is the hiring peocess different foe external employeee va. legacy UTC employees vs. legacy Raytheon employeea for legacy Raytheon positiona?

BTW, I am in Purchasing/Procurement.

The two heritage Raytheon businesses are hiring like usual especially in Engineering. I’ve noticed a decrease in functional (I.e.Supply Chain, HR, IT) roles open across the board. From my understanding the hiring freeze was announced prior to the merge on the UTC side. Post merge I have not heard of any freeze announcements on the heritage Raytheon side. I can see certain groups decide on that but not overall heritage raytheon

raytheon takes a minimum of 3 months to go thru the hiring process....if they know what they want. Ive worked here 2 years and applied to 30+ jobs internal. all have either been denials or they simply cancel the req. definitely look outside the company.

OP here.

Of course that would be ideal, and that's what I'm trying to do simultaneously, but there's virtually no hiring going on at this time (and likely in the foreseeable future) outside of the Defense Industry.

That said, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

My advice, look for a job outside Raytheon Technologies in addition to what you are doing. Hiring Freeze or delayed job openings (whatever the business jargon is) are market driven. Crude Oil prices may impact Defense spending as GCC countries will reduce Defense spending or move out the payment schedule. No one can predict the impact of COVID-19 on Defense spending. That's the nature of the defense business where you have applied- depends on geopolitical factors. My advice, keep your skills current and apply outside.
