Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

We who are left.

As the riffs sweep through the company and finally come to a close, there will be wounds on both sides.

There are those who are gone that feel that they have lost everything, you have not. You've been given an opportunity that you will soon discover.
Regardless of what a media outlet tells you.

There are those that are still here that feel they are lost because as an organization we've lost so much.

Now is the low point. Now is the pinnacle for our ascendance. If we sulk we will surely fall into a place that will continue to consume our minds. We have been given an opportunity to grow ourselves and our brethren, and we must take it. If not for the company then for our next steps, how will we use this to learn and develop new skills? How will we add value to our own offerings? How can we make ourselves better? How can we use this opportunity to become greater than we could have become before?

Lets face it, weak individuals are a cancer to the larger organism so what I am saying is not selfish. If we grow ourselves and embrace this crucible then we shall surely flourish as a unit.

I challenge each person to take each day into consideration and tactically operate yourself as an individual business selling it's services to Halliburton. I challenge you to develop value that anyone would pay top dollar for.

This is a time of rebirth, embrace it.

If we do not, we will fall into darkness, and will not recover until the next downturn. Then again, praying for a severance package.

To @stillEmployed self appointed encourager. Your post was directed at those who remain. Why then post it here. Halliburton has made a big deal about posting to Yammer have you not seen those emails. Your post comes across as sand paper to an already open wound. Please think twice about your audience before posting. Halliburton has training classes that can help you with that. Good luck navigating the future at Halliburton. Gonna be very bumpy ride.

@dln+14PCPtNY No, this person writes like they received their degree from 9th grade. (Ear muffs kids) This is Just someone that has bruised knees, a sore butt, and a wet mouth. Probably short and overweight, small thingy, and a big truck looking to work people up so he LOL with his PGL buddy and feel “cool”.

@fxi+14PCPtNY I know you’re hurt and angry and worried about your future, but that should not mean that you need to take it out on other people here. You are proving to everyone that you are the one acting immature here, while others here are not name calling or acting condescending towards anyone here.

Ah please stop with your analysis. You have no idea what’s going on in a family, circumstances, etc. Do you know all my mortgage, auto loan details? No.

You only 2 out of 10. Again proves how immature you are.

@sce+14PCPtNY Not to sound callous, because I surely am not wanting to be, but if both spouses were laid off (and one of them probably being an above-median-average paid oilfield worker) then money wise that family should be better off than most financially. First, both spouses should be receiving unemployment benefits, plus more than likely the federal part too, which should be bringing in a good amount each month for the time being. Second, while some of us might not be in your shoes, many of us know that the oilfield is a fickle b-tch, and it’s wise to live well within your means instead of splurging on the $350k house and a couple of $70k trucks. While I’m not alluding to your situation, it does seem like a lot of people I see who have lost their job and are now complaining are the ones who have spent all their money on nice new shiny trucks and 4-wheelers, thought that buying that really big house in boom or even after-boom-but-still-high price range was a great idea, and ate $40 steaks every night instead of saving it.

I feel for you though, and the same for everyone who has lost their job in this sh-tstorm of a situation. It’s c-ap. It hurts. It’s hard. The uncertainty and worrying of the situation makes it all the worse, especially when one has little ones to take care for and worry about. I hope everything plays out well in the end for you though, and you’ll land on your feet relatively easy.

I do not hate.
But you are definitely not mature to post this here . You have no idea what we go though and you open a champagne bottle celebrating your survival.
Others get very little sleep thinking when they would get a job with so much people on the market right now. Will they be able to keep the house, cars. How to raise little kids, a parent to support, we stand in line for hours to get some food to save our money on something else. Started selling some items at home to buy things for kids. Just because we were laid off from oil and gas does not mean that we are rich.

PGL, good intentions delivered in the wrong way or place helps no one. No one on here is ready to be preached to by someone who kept their job, even if they felt it in the past. As a leader you should learn to read a room and know when to offer advice and when to just stay silent. Its no slight on your good intention, but it is a lesson you need to learn.

I'd be a hypocrite not to practice my own challenge. Only fools make claims they can not uphold.

Don't assume I haven't been there, Anonymous.
2014 was hard on those of us unlucky enough to remember it's burn. I was in complete hell that led to a break down and near physical impairment. I'm trying to share to help avoid the mistakes I made back then, there is life after loss. You will carry on.

It was dark, but here we are. Bury your hate, it will do you no service.

Easy for you. You are obviously still employed. You won’t understand the other side. There are families-both spouses lost jobs with mortgage, auto loans and two little kids and almost no savings.
It is always easy to advise to others. Let’s see you in our shoes.
