It's the same sh– culture now as then.
Ownership changed, nothing else.

Unemployment is DENIED for many 50% furloughed and that also applies to CARE act funds. So stop assuming your situation is the same for everyone.

I've been furlough since the beginning of April and have been collecting unemployment and they ARE paying my benefits. Unemployment is available and the CARES unemployment is too so stop the all this negativity. We don't need extra stress right now.

Any news on furniture?

Sorry to inform you but Staples is not planning to return all associates from furlough. Leaders have been asked to review org charts and only return a small percentage of furloughed associates. I don't know the reduction targets for each team so don't know if TAMs and KAMs will be hit hard. My area is looking at under 1/3 returning. Others may be higher or lower.

What groups have brought back 100% furloughed employees?

There is hope. As the business has made adjustments and priorities have been adjusted, I have seen 100% furloughed employees rejoin our ranks. It is a shame that there aren't bi-weekly updates or something instead of a complete blackout of information.

I have not received word from anybody I worked with, including my gm and supervisor on any updates. I’m not sure what’s going to happen next but I will most likely be looking for work elsewhere soon

They knew how much to furlough so we couldn't collect unemployment benefits. Shame on these leaders who are not feeling this tremendous strain as we are every day.

Oh, and to add, all of the iB2B2 Territory opportunities in all phases have been given to the iB2B1 and we keep the revenue even IF they return. That means Staples would have to put you back on bridge pay to keep iB2B2 salespeople staffed. That is not in the financial cards ATM and I would recommend finding a new job.

No word about 100% furloughed employees and we had a meeting with the VP this afternoon. The first wave is going to be opening the offices following social distancing guidelines then the PT furloughed employees back to FT. If you were furloughed 100% the company has deemed you nonessential and they had a plan for you guys all along. On the iB2B1 teams (the only 100% clocking in), we hit 80% of our revenue goal for last period. Until we’re back to 100%+ I don’t see Staples paying out of pocket to get you back on the floor.

When I was furloughed a month ago, I was told it would most likely be for 60 days. I actually really enjoy my job and would like to return to work, any kind of update from corporate would be really nice because I’m starting to doubt I will actually be brought back in 30 days :(

This is not the work era of our parents where you can be completely loyal to a company. Be loyal to your family and do what’s best for them. Because more than likely your job is gone. This pandemic is a blessing for Staples they gone milk it for what it’s worth, which ain’t much. That have a legit reason to get rid of people now. Staples been dead for the last 3 years and counting. Funny it was a time they were trying to buy Office Depot but now Office Depot running circles around Staples

From what I’ve heard it’s more than likely most people on furlough won’t be back. It’s not enough business to bring everybody back. It’s time to trim the fat away and that’s the God honest truth. If you truly love working for Staples you may have to be patience and understand that you may lose your job because of the circumstances. They will ride this wave to save expenses and s— whatever they can out of the employees working 25-50% while the others collect unemployment and even then some can’t even feed their families or make their rent. The CCO does not care about the people and wants to tear down anything that came before her. The senior level VPs are all focused on what’s best for them personally and are not doing anything to bring people back below them. Survival of the c-level and it’s all about the bottom line at this point. The sales organization is not valued, Hasn’t been for a very long time. .com is the focus again and that business has been bleeding for years. .com is benefiting from the pandemic and leadership is happy about it as that business has been dragging the other businesses down for years. Time will tell. Walmart and Amazon thriving and not at the mercy of their employees. They are all hiring and protecting their people and getting paid. The highest levels have barely been impacted at all financially, it’s all of the sales people and front line that are getting the shaft here. If they want more sales they need to bring sales teams back at least throw us a bone and add 35 percent to those that are furloughed. At least we can use that bone to add to broth and make some broth to feed our families.

There is no plan to return. If there was it would have been announced by now like the other large companies. Start looking.
