Planners and Project Managers, okay no loss there ...
Gremp campus got hit with layoffs on the 7th, a few planners and project managers were laid off, I'm not sure on the number of people that were affected but it happend....
Unfortunately virtually everything can be outsourced, especially engineering. There is a large push to utilize our engineering resources in Poland and India instead of using engineers local to Houston. There is a huge cost advantage to doing so. The catch is that they currently require their hands to be held to accomplish anything of value but with decent training they can become competent.
Accounting & Finance are nonproductive workforce & can be outsourced. High salaries in accounting & Finance can be done by outside firms, whereas engineering, welders, services, cannot. Don’t mean to see anyone lose their jobs, but you have to prioritize the essential workforce where absolute skills are necessary to keep the business afloat.
IT got hit also...
Has anyone heard anything about the Finance Dept. at Gremp?
Hope they got the girl in finance that puts all the overtime in and her manager for approving it!
Nothing yet in HR then. Theirs and several others should be hearing one of these days before too long.
too bad
