GE is laying off up to 25% of it's workforce, and it's a combination VLO/ILO like Boeing has. I see no mention of a 1-month furlough.
Now's a great time to be a cargo airline though. Business is up 51% since the pandemic hit, so UPS will still take those 747-8's and the 747 will live awhile longer.
Absolutely. Every supplier and customer laying off is directly relevant to our jobs at Boeing, or lack thereof. I'm amazed at the level of delusion I see in some of the posts here that this is just "the flu" and we'll all be back to normal soon.
No, and no. Until there's a vaccine, there will never be "normal", and social distancing will be required. A commercial jet requires an approximate 75% load factor just to break even, so there aren't going to be any profitable passenger flights for awhile. A 100% full flight brings in approximately $10-11,000 profit, while flying an empty flight results in around a $20,000 loss. These are all approximations, but the 75% figure is the norm for commercial operations and the profits and losses will vary somewhat due to aircraft type etc.
Trump says up to 100,000 dead, and he's always got a problem with the truth. Now that states are opening back up, that figure could go as high as 240,000, and that is from Dr. Birx, who works for Trump.
IHME is slightly lower, but it predicts a large jump in deaths due to the restart. Something you might want to consider working in the world's largest building (if you're in Everett), and really don't have social distancing.
Boeing is screwed, and we will be screwed, BECAUSE there is NO demand for what we build right now.
By this time next year I believe the global Boeing workforce will be 40% smaller.
@1lu and your point is? Rolls Royce is laying off also. Should we post every aviation company on this Boeing thread? A lot already don’t have jobs just be happy our wonderful union gives us 60 day WARNs.
This is obviously very relevant to Boeing, as was the UAL CEO urging their employees to take a voluntary separation.
Commercial aviation is in the toilet. Gee, how could that possibly affect layoffs at Boeing?
Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs
Some people are just lost
@1euc+14NzW7kA Lol I swear people are so out of touch on here.
The original 1st answer was 100% correct. It got massive downvotes. If I told you lot eating sh– was gross you'd probably downvote that too.
You know why you should care? Gee, hmmmmm ..... GE makes jet engines for lots of jets.Hmmmmmm..... GE must know there's gonna be a REAL BIG slowdown of people buying jets in the near future.....Hmmmmmm.......
Hmmmmmmmm..........
Shouldn’t this be on the G.E. page?
Who cares!
Better be going to cash, in four months it’s will be a world of hurt!
Way more in Washington, people haven’t grasped it yet but pain is going too be big! Betting on the vlo is going to prove stupid
What people don't seem to get is it is going to be the full amount of 16,000 out the door by July 31rst. Just like they did after 9/11.
Headlines does anybody read the news anymore
Furloughed for a month,
