Curious about your estimates - what group got hit the most?
My father spent 16 years with the company, he was laid off today. He was in Baroid Tech.
I know this is difficult for many (my dad is devastated) but I've had a chance to meet many Halliburton people through my dad and they were all outstanding cream of the crop engineer. I hope they will be able to find jobs very soon.

I asked that question and yes. You’re eligible for unemployment on top of severance as long as they pay it out in one lump Doethink you still have to let unemployment know about it though. Each state has its own rules. Uncontested means they won’t try to say you quit or got fired for cause etc. This was a layoff due to market conditions.
I believe you cannot get severance pay and unemployment at the same time. So, if you get 8 weeks of severance pay. You have to wait 8 weeks before requesting a payment for unemployment. Just make sure you file for unemployment ASAP so you'll be ready and in the system when you can get the unemployment check.
Can someone explain what does it mean by "not going to contest unemployment?" Are we eligible for unemployment on top of Severance pay?

Hey dingleberry the slaughter being talked about isn’t about the 3,500 HC , it’s in reference to Sperry Mfg at NB and it’s been going on since 7am and still going strong.
Definitely still going, I'm waiting on my call with boss at 5:30 and k–ling time until they finally deliver the finishing blow.

What is the latest HC and from what areas? People are saying it’s a slaughter house but so far the only numbers reported are about 20...That’s not what I would consider a slaughterhouse with 3,500 HC at NB

Yes its a bloodbath. Our group had 14 and we lost 5.
It's not rumours, the numbers re massive. 20-30% is accurate. PGL's and groups getting wiped out
30-40% reduction sounds like alot....but i believe it. We employees here at Sperry NB are seeing it first hand. All morning long, left and right, one after another. Even PGLs are being let go and techs with 20+ yrs here.
