Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Reliable Covid-19 Information from Boeing?

Are we getting accurate information from the company on new/existing Covid-19 cases? The company website gives us numbers, but are they accurate? Based on the way they behaved prior to the shutdown, one has to wonder.

So, what is the word in your work group or area of the factory? I'm still out on PTO, but I stay in contact with co-workers, who are reporting no cases in our world, on all 3 shifts. Before the shutdown, we had at least one confirmed case, and a bunch of people out on quarantine.

In my opinion, they brought everyone back too soon. Based on Calhoun's lack of transparency, I'd like to know if we're getting the straight story on Covid cases. We certainly aren't getting it as far as layoffs go, and they waited until someone died in Everett before shutting it down.

No spin please, Boeing. We need accurate information.

5-6-2020. 2 new sick cases in my building today. Deep cleaning was preformed. Yeah, right.

OP here. The last response from 1tex sounds about right, and that's unfortunate. Like most big companies, Boeing seems to be going with the "nobody knows where you got it" approach, and since blanket protections from legal action seem almost a certainty in the near future, they're safe with obfuscation.

It's only logical to assume that there are far more cases than reported (to us, at least) based on the sheer number of people at Boeing. Sure, many people are still staying home, but a lot are not, and it doesn't sound like the safety practices are being followed to the letter.

I'm not willing to be expendable. I really like my job, but I'm not willing to get sick and possibly die for a company that doesn't care enough about it's employees to provide them honest and accurate information.

In the next week or so, we'll see if there is a significant rebound in cases, and if they try and hide them. And for all of you "Liberate Boeing" people out there, please remember that there is no herd immunity for this that science is aware of (yet) so that argument is ignorant. Instead of just culling the sick, old, and weak (still twisted), you're k–ling off healthy individuals and NOT creating so-called herd immunity, just ending the lives of people who didn't have to die.

Honesty, please.

Your not going to get any new updates since after the shutdown. That first week back they’d reported 5 cases, sent home several people associated with those workers and then tried retracting 3 of them, as well as stating 2 others were from prior to the shutdown and they’d since “gotten better”, even though they were sent home the 2nd day back from the shutdown.

If you want to push the issue for more transparent and honest answers, hammer on the media to put it out to the public that Boeing hasn’t updated us. They can’t dodge publicity forever. It may not fully work but....we’re back at work and that’s all they care about.

Ask anyone inside....management, HR, the union... and you’ll get a Cheech n Chong size cloud blown up your b-hole.

At our location we’ve been asking and just get the “I don’t know of any new cases. I’ll put the word out.”

Sure you will

Yes, I agree with all the below posts.....them bringing us back has nothing to do with building airplanes due to demand. The only thing I'm not sure about, is do they have to physically bring us back to hand out WARNs? What's stopping them from sending them via mail? Perhaps they need to physically hand to the recipient to legally be covered or something....? I don't know....

There is absolutely zero reason to believe any form of communication that comes from this management team. Total scumbags.

Yes, it's quite probable that bring us back also served to give them the opportunity to lay us off. I also think it was their thinking that starting up again would put them in the good graces of the Trump administration.

@ryy+14MZGGID correct me if I’m wrong but did they not bring us back just to get layoffs rolling?

Very good question..... I believe the answer is NO. Why would they do anything that doesn't benefit THEM? Right now there's no need for anyone to be working there, but that hasn't stopped them. Time will tell....
