Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Bloodbath in Houston on Monday

Saw this posted on reddit's Houston sub. It's a picture of the Halliburton office floor, with stacked empty boxes for employees to pack their stuff. Really sad.

Lost lots of friends today and yesterday. Over 100 people I know have been let go. Entire teams have disappeared

Product Managers, Technology Directors, Technical Managers, Global Technical Advisors - and plenty of “lower echelon” staff gone. But sadly necessary for the Company to survive. I lost a lot of friends.... :-(

I really think it’s all rumors. Some people post fake statements enjoy see others anticipation and suffer

I'll give you mfg but what technology lol. We're in oil this is an extremely mature field, everything is already standardized as for it what a joke have you ever used IT? It's all out of India anyway.

I can't believe this, there's no way HAL would plan ahead and have boxes available.

About time the loud, overpaid, and insecure contractors that don't really do any useful work get cut out of WL. Good riddance. Hopefully will save other employees from losing their positions.

HalAcademy is a f—ing joke! Back stabbing is at the highest levels. Like crabs in a bucket, When someone has an idea to get out and attempts to climb out, pull that mf back in and run with that idea. There is a great life after Hal!

Just let go the Global useless team from each PSL and cut your bonuses in half + monthly paycheck, that would really impact our finances, ohh, and also stop that Hall-Academy and some of the high level financial trainings, you guys are cutting the peons when you know what impacts the most

A7A:
Please post here Friday, tell is how it went down for you (I do hope for nothing but the best for you and yours), and if those boxes were indeed for storing unicorn manes and transporting precious copiers from Plaza 1 to Q or L (cheapest buildings) before P1 and 2 get mothballed.

Also, if it’s any LESS than 40% (unless you don’t consider that massive) before the end of May (in NB alone), message me here and I promise to buy you a beer or a glass of chocolate milk ( your choice).

If you think that SA and Kilgore, as well as Caper can be fully sh– down, and places like WLT and FTL can be brought down to a few crews at best, then you are misguided sir (or madam).

If you think that HAL alone can go from some 120 PE fleets a few months ago down to 15-20, the entire NAL frac fleet down to some 40 at best - and the Ivory tower HC not be reduced heavily - then you are a fool.

Forget about the matrix structure - the PSL global leads are going away, PSLs will be consolidated (Sperry and WL will go to Lamar, for example).

I applaud your positive attitude, wish I could share the sentiment - but it will be brutal. 40%+ at NB...
I’ll wait and watch this space.

9 - you are a doouche and need to relax and enjoy this time off with your family or furbee clan.

10 - if I had one wish it is you will never need a box.... because it has already been mailed to you

Boxes are in every building, from I/Q to M - for both layoffs and consolidating those remaining. As people work from home, boxes will be packed by movers (stickers on piles of boxes are for Wald Relocation). People were laid off during the furlough. Contractors were or are being released. Many others will be laid off from Monday. North America Land is not going to recover to anything like it was - basins are shutting in and will not restart - unlike the last downturn, capital markets are closed unless you’re an IOC - and they have choice elsewhere in the world where to get a better return.

Let's look at each one of these speculations:
1- Until now, we have seen only one pic which seems to be from Plza-2, third or fourth floor.
2- If anyone has another pic from different locations, please share.
3- As i said, it could be an old pic. Doing reverse search doesn't prove or disprove this. It could an old but has never been in the web before.
4- There is nothing that prevents Hall from laying off people in the furlough. I knew ppl in NB got laid during their week on.
5- What is the point of waiting until the very last min to lay off NB employees .
6-The market is not as bad as it seems. The low prices were only due to Corona Virus. Countries are opening up, so the demand will increase.
7- There will be layoffs in NB, but not massive. I know that 20 contractors, from a source, will get laid off in a certain PSL.
8- As for boxes, managers and HR are still working from . So they will not be able to pack people up any way. So having boxes now to pack employees up while there are no ppl to do packing doesn't make any sense.

Bottom line: Layoffs in NB, but not a massive.

Let's discuss reasons and logics.

there is a PPE table put out in the parking garage by the elevator, there is no PPE yet but the paper on the table says PPE and other return to work instructions, it is at a different location from those packing boxes.

It could also be PPE packs for those returning to work since furlough is over and stay at home order is over in Texas. Most companies are provided masks, sanitizers etc for their employees coming back to work. Some are providing 30 day suppplies. It could be that's what the boxes are for. There's only one way to find out. No need sweating. Monday will come and everyone will find out.

They are closing down buildings to save money too. The boxes aren’t just for those getting fired.
