while the june 30 date on the warn allows them to continue layoffs, it was put there as a place-holder. why wait to layoff?
hard to believe that sales hasn't been touched.
What group hasn’t been touched yet? Sales?
Smaller numbers, groups that haven’t been touched yet, big way. Makes no sense.
They’re definitely not done. It’s possible the next ones will be in smaller numbers at a time in groups that haven’t been touched yet in a big way. Good luck to all
Where is the next target? Where haven’t they cut yet?
The warn notice from February states...it’s not over.
“Employee separations are expected to begin on April 15, 2020 and continue until June 30, 2020”
Has anyone seen any new warn notices since the last one in February?
new WARN notices?
heard that office space will be targeted more now as a way of savings since covid has proven having offices everywhere is not necessary and employees can work from home
While the merger certainly presents ViacomCBS with the opportunity to trim back some overlap positions, the simple fact remains that this business is rapidly changing.
Merger or not, much of this was going to happen. Covid is obviously making everything worse.
Everyone is now chasing the Netflix model and as someone who really likes CBS All Access, I was bummed to see how quickly the Disney App blew past it with subscribers.
Per HR, the lack of a WARN notice (or lack of transparency about headcount) in this round lead to a severance increase for all.
We should assume they are looking to cut costs or weed out undesirables all the time and we can expect it to be the case for the foreseeable future. The old days are gone until stock really goes up or someone buys us and then does an even bigger layoff
Yes these layoffs were signaled with a warn notice in January & amended in February.
The recent layoffs were not signaled with a WARN notice. When this happens, extra severance is added.
Well pre covid plan was 750 million in savings, how much of that is jobs, not sure. Could also include real estate sales, unloading companies like Simon and Schuster. Now add in this pandemic, look out! Layoffs will be on going for YEARS.
‘ What evidence besides the WARN notice?’
It’s a sinking ship. There’s your evidence.
What evidence besides the WARN notice?
May AND June. Those of you who haven't been canned yet are not safe until at least July and even that is not guaranteed.
