I think the worst problem in oxy is the middle management. They have nothing to do but micromanage employee which make people want to quite. This needs to be changed. These redundant and high paid positions need to be cut. This will save a lot of money and will help OXY to go through the down turns.

If you endorse the greed initiative during economic prosperity than you should have no problem maintaining that sentiment during recession/depression. The people who cannot comprehend that typically have an irrational sense of entitlement, which only makes the situation worse for themselves,.
