  • Boeing Prepares to Resume Lawn Dart Production????

Boeing has asked its largest supplier of 737 MAX parts, AeroSystems to
restart manufacturing in anticipation of the aircraft manufacturer resuming
production on its regional airliner.
But Boeing has already stated in earlier press releases that the output of
the MAX will be significantly lower than what was envisioned pre-pandemic.

According to simpleflying.com reports surfaced in March, that Boeing was
intending to restart its MAX assembly line in May, although this has been
open to interpretation given the current climate. But it now appears that
this prediction was correct with work set to start at the Renton facility.

Spirit is keen to get back to producing Boeing’s lawn darts as the company
derives more than 50% of its revenue from the MAX. According to Boeing’s
latest figures it expects to produce {Up To} 31 aircraft per month through to
mid-2021.

The World Trade Organization must decide whether the United States
has fully complied with WTO rulings on illegal government aid to Boeing
and that process could take some time, a spokesman for Airbus said on
Wednesday.

The U.S. government on Wednesday told the WTO that it had fully
complied with the WTO’s rulings since Washington State had now repealed
its tax breaks for Boeing, and there was “no valid basis”
for the European Union to retaliate against U.S. goods.

But Airbus spokesman Clay McConnell said the U.S. notification was
“a claim” that would have to be reviewed by the WTO. He said Airbus
also looked forward to receiving more information about how the
United States would remove other subsidies to Boeing that were identified
in WTO rulings.

AerCap warns could ScгДP some Boeing MAX orders, withdraws outlook

May 5 (Reuters) - Aircraft leasing company AerCap Holdings on Tuesday
warned it could cancel some Boeing 737 MAX orders and withdrew its
full-year outlook amid a slump in travel demand due to the COVID-19
pandemic that has battered business globally.

The world’s largest aircraft leasing company said it had lost some of its
Boeing 737 MAX leases and expects additional cancellations by airlines
in the future.

“In cases where leases have been cancelled, we have the right to cancel
our corresponding orders for delivery of those aircraft,” the company said
in a statement.

Last month smaller rival and privately-held Avolon cancelled an order
for 75 Boeing 737 MAX planes that were due to be delivered by 2023.

Boeing is to shed 10% of its 160,000 workforce in the first round of layoffs and
greatly reduce the production of its aircraft well into 2022, in what the company
describes as an entirely new market created by management malfeasants and
Covid-19

At the company’s first-quarter earnings call on Wednesday, Boeing CEO
David Dunce Calhoun detailed the adjustments to the production runs that
would be coming into effect.
Plans for the 737 MAX, which he estimated will resume late in the third quarter
will accelerate even slower than originally planned, following the jet’s 22-month
grounding. In a revised upbeat earlier plan to increase Max production from 57
a month to 63, Boeing now sees this rate peaking at only 31 per month late in
2022, and will only rise if the market demand is there in the future.
With enough inventory on hand to supply all of 2022 production will be small.

A letter sent to the company’s employees last week, Calhoun called the
pandemic “a One – Two punch” the first head blow being self inflicted
followed by a gut punch to the business. This created a complete lack of
interest by carriers in purchasing our flying lawn darts and a reduction in
passenger volumes of more than 95% compared to last year’s figures and
an expected $314 billion fall in airline revenue in 2020.
He surmised that a recovery from the Covid-19 politics to a 2019 levels would
take up to three years and that it would take “a few years beyond that” for the
industry to return to profitability.

“As a result, airlines are delaying purchases for new jets, especially the Max

Adding that we have been deferring maintenance, on our parked Max fleet

“We’re also seeing a dramatic impact on our commercial services business,

Nobody actually knows how many are gonna get laid off unless your Calhoun or one of the execs. As for numbers per job code, managers are to start declaring surplus now. So there’s no telling.....

It’s all guesstimates....until it’s announced. Percentages are fun to try and interpret but nobody commenting on this site actually knows.

LOL sorry to disappoint the trolls talking 50% layoffs and bankruptcy (hahahahhaa). No where near 50% RIF in engineering is feasible, 20% tops in only a few areas. Look for a lot of the sales executives to move on, they are bloated as is. The company is offering all its SPEEA technical and professional workers
in Wichita voluntary layoffs, according to a Spirit email sent to employees
Wednesday night.

It’s immediately unclear how many jobs the company will cut.
In 2019, SPEEA, represented more than 1,600 technical and professional
workers at Spirit,
but the company has undergone Several Rounds of Layoffs
Voluntary Layoffs, Early Retirement Offers and Furloughs since then.

As Boeing goes, so goes Spirit. There had been a new deal setting-up a a vastly reduced rate of fuselage production at Spirit, and that was before Covid-19. So, I guess we can safely assume that the rates for the 737 that have been tossed-out might also be bogus?
