Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Some things never change

Whether it's regular layoffs or those prompted by a pandemic one thing remains the same: people who are good at their jobs and have been here for decades are the first ones to go. Meanwhile, the lazy management pets and those who have recently joined are still employed.

Why am I not surprised?

It is all about who you know I.e who you kiss up, not your knowledge. Hall is known for internal political games.

You have to understand, it is the arse kissers who survive. Why? Because they are sycophants that do not cause waves nor question the status quo. You are better off finding another position elsewhere.

You are correct in a lot of ways. I was let go a couple of days ago, and at the location I was at, it had the same issues. I’ve personally been working for 40 years, only 9 at Halliburton, and the first time I’ve had to draw unemployment. It’s not easy, and I’m bitter because I know there are undesirables remaining due to supervisors. People who do not represent my work skills, ethics, or dedication , but are there because of who they know. But I do have a friend, who is a damn fine worker, that transferred out to another location , several years ago, and he made it through the layoffs for now. I’ve worked with this man side by side as mechanics for frac., he’s a good, trustworthy worker. I’m happy he’s still with the company . So my point is, you are so correct about your post, however there are a few occasions where some deserved to be salvaged . Good luck in your future , there’s life after Halworld.
