Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Unpaid leave.

To everyone saying yeah I will take a week unpaid every month, you could just go on a stress leave make basicly the same amount of money and stretch that out for six months. If the unions allow this to happen it is a injustice to every person that has been laid off. My guess is if they cut much deeper they are going to get to all the people that have quaranties from shop closings or they dont want to have to pay the health insurance and this is the cheapest route for the company. Are the unions going to do this tell all the furloughed members are brought back. What about the contract, that's all we have and if we allow this it will become the new normal. Remember if UP wants it then it cant be good for us.

The attendance policy and we will be off more than they would like.

Sure. Mental illness is debilitating. There are many programs that can help.

Can you get occupational disability for stress? Does anyone know of anyone who has gotten out of here for good after 240 months? I’m asking for a friend.

Never forget all for them and none for you! If Labor Relations has anything to do with it...... its in ink. Just wait. Just do your job and nothing extra! one scoop service.

If UP wants to save money just get rid of the Absenteeism policy.

If you quit and you don’t take stress leave first then you’re doing it wrong.

Do they even know what health insurance is in Arkansas? I know they don’t know what car and boat insurance is. I’ve seen Judge Judy.

United Healthcare pays for nothing. In AR you are hard pressed to even find providers that even participate because the reimbursement is so low. The either don’t participate or the ones who do end up dropping them. Between monthly premiums, a high deductible and limited participation I pay out of pocket for everyone I have seen. I haven’t had one thing covered.

UP withdrew the offer. All days off will now be subject to the absenteeism policy. You win.

UP’s health insurance is self insured. United or blue cross just administer the plans. Don’t believe that bs about your portion of the health plan is only 15%. Look thru the yearly financials of the health plan. The ending balance is always $0. They aren’t contributing that other 85% every month. They just pay what the outstanding balance on negotiated rates with providers. If your 15% is $240. The monthly plan total would be $1600. So their contribution should be $1360 a month or $16,320 a year. At roughly 30k employees you're looking at a yearly contribution of $489,600,000 that they should be contributing. Never in the financial disclosure is there and amount close to that. I can also say the plan is decent but no where good enough for a $1600 month premium.

There's no unpaid leave for agreement employees.
