Thread regarding Sears layoffs

April 30th

Isn’t that the end date everyone will have insurance through transformco? They must be gearing up to make some sort of announcement.

Employers are not required by law to pay
100% of health insurance premiums during furlough. It does leave a bad taste for them having switched their stance on it during the extension of this furlough.

If they ain’t paying health insurance then it is not a furlough... it is a lay-off.

Furloughs will run through May, but employees have to pay health premiums

Sears is essential? They closed them during the period of when only essential businesses can be open. No word yet when/if they will reopen.

So.... what? They're hoping everyone will just forget they were supposed to get insurance this week?

If you look at the employee FAQ on Sears88, you’ll see they adjusted the date (last week or before), without making any sort of announcement, to change “the furlough is expected to last less than 6 months” from something saying it would only last until the end of April. It seems like they’re trying to get out of paying everyone or some people severance.

The new Home&Life stores were already opened a while ago. Didn't go well I guess. No more new stores.
