A notice was posted today in my store that as of Monday April 27th all employees have to wear a face mask , one provided by hyvee or their own. No training, No medical exam. Nothing.
This isn't right, it should be my choice not Randy's.

We should continue to get hazard pay as we risk our lives everyday for this company and by the way a discount on groceries IS NOT like getting a raise as randy said.We should get this bonus pay as long as we have to wear a mask.
I am a cashier at W. Kimberly. We had three employees test positive for COVID and management kept it quiet. We didn't close for cleaning or anything. Management didn't notify employees, it was the employees who tested positive who told others so we would know.
When I asked my manager if I could have 14 day isolation I was told if I took 14 days away from my register my register would be given to someone who wanted a job.
Hyvee doesn't care about employees. Hell Randy met and sat next to Pence without mask. Just another way for upper management to play the control game.
Been with Hyvee 4 months and see the games they play. The employees work work are treated like c-ap. The ones who screw off and should be fired are put on pedistal

Funny to think that the 10% bonus employees received for four weeks shrunk to 3, and now nobeord of any other bonus. Employees are now 'required' to wear masks until further notice, yet no compensation. Hmmm. Guess Hy-Vee is happy to collect the extra profit in these times and unwilling to redistribute to the employees on the front line. No, I'm not surprised Hy-Vee still doesn't actually care for their employees.
Yeah and the CDC has made every correct call so far. Have they even made one correct call?? Do what the tell you sheep. If it so right, why did we work for 6 weeks in a pandemic without any masks? Dumba$$
Get over yourself... CDC recommends masks for out in public, Hy-Vee secured masks, then required them. It’s for the safety of you and the customers. Go cry in the corner... what a joke.
The facemask requierment for employees is for the customers protection not really the employees protection but can help if customers wear a mask also. Since the Virus spreads mostly from the droplets of saliva and nasal snot when you sneeze and cough even talk the mask limits how far those droplets go. The mask is a limiting measure that constricts the spread of the droplets to the inside of the mask or just a foot or so from the mask. Its not by any means perfect but it does a great jog at limiting the exposure when you cough or sneeze to others. Caution will need to be taken when taking the mask off laying it down and putting it back on you you risk exposure to others if you do have Covid19 or any other infectious virus and you dont know you have it. The mask perse will not keep you from getting Covod19 or any other virus but if other as well as yourself wear one it help limit the spread just due to constricting the droplet plume that comes from you or another person when you talk cough or sneeze.
Those bonuses are a drop in the bucket compared to the BIG paycuts people took. STUPID.

You realize that full time employees right now are making hundreds if not thousands of extra dollars in their 10% bonus, right? Oh yeah?!?!? Walmart paid 180 million to their employees?!?!? They have 2.2 million employees... that’s $80 per employee. You all are stupid and should be ashamed of yourselves. Quite a few people in the stores have tested positive. Managers aren’t informing employees like they should be which is highly recommended by the health department. My neighbor got it (works in a prison) and is still experiencing bad side effects and it’s well after the fact. It’s gone from

If masks were so important , why didn't we get them 6 weeks ago. It is also interesting to note that as far as i know not one person in all of hyvee land has had the virus. 6 weeks of no protection, nobody or very little infection, hmmm . The Experts don't have a clue either of what to do or not to do.
This is all hyvee trying to look good in the public eye. If and when they or anyone else force everyone to wear a mask and someone has a breathing disorder they will be in real trouble. They are supposed to do a medical exam. These masks are cheap c-ap by the way.

The only thing that has changed for hyvee is the pandemic. They still have all the problems they had before. They follow ,rather than lead. They want to "look good" in the public eye but don't really do anything on their own.

The site is called "thelayoff.com" not the "I think the government is stupid, many companies and retail corporations are being made to wear the masks by essential workers now even if they don't work with the public and they are working 10-12 hours with them on. So complaining that you don't think it's fair that you have to wear a mask 6-8 hours a day is a waste of breathe and time.
This site is a good way to communicate with others around the company on any issue. And just what is wrong with that. I am not sure if I should wear a mask or not but I don't like anyone telling me I have to for my own good. The employees that are wearing them are touching their faces constantly ,trying to adjust them.Not good. It's one thing to wear a mask foran hour shopping and another to do physical work for 8 hours with them on.
Stop posting on this site about your stupid opinions on things you don’t like. This has nothing to do with lay offs. If you don’t like your job then quit, there are millions of Americans who would love to have a job right now. Jesus everyone posting on here these days think they have a voice. You don’t, stop.
They also aren’t being given a choice. Some state governors are making them mandatory or pleading with people to wear them. If people still continue to refuse, they will come down harder. Some cities in the United States are fining people out in public without a mask. It is now mandatory that pharmacy employees wear them (not hyvees choice). Hy-Vee has also been getting a bad rep for not making it mandatory. My store still hasn’t. In my area, every company has their employees wear super nice masks (price chopper, hen house, etc) but Hy-Vee hasn’t. They gave us pieces of cloth that barely protects us and only a few employees wear them. The company is looking pretty bad among their competitors. They are also protecting themselves against lawsuits and what happens when there’s an outbreak in the store? Aside from massive lawsuits, there would be no one to work. It’s irresponsible to go out without a mask because it protects others from you spreading it if you have it.
As much as I disagree with a lot of their choices, it should be mandatory. It’s more to protect others than the person. You can be a silent carrier and not know it but spread the virus. You can also have it up to two weeks before realizing it, thus spreading it to hundreds if not more. All of the people around me without masks at work have been making me anxious. The person I live with takes care of my grandma and if she gets it, it would k–l her (in her 90s).
We all should be wearing mask for the sake of protecting ourselves and customers. That simple.
Its obvious,they are doing this to cover their a– ,to prevent anymore bad press and lawsuits.
