Thread regarding Enterprise Rent-A-Car layoffs

Severance

Can anyone tell me their severance? Going on 16 years and am receiving 16 weeks of salary. Not based on years worked as I had assumed.

I received 2 weeks of pay for each year of employment. Everything was paid as laid out in the agreement. No problems or complaints at all. To the previous poster, extortion would be trying to get you to pay money with threats or force. It's not extortion if someone is giving you money. You certainly should have taken your severance pay. I'm afraid Enterprise won that one.

I only received one months worth of severance, which I did not take as they wanted you to sign off releasing them from any liability before you would receive it. And that is extortion and the last time I heard that was illegal as well

The next time you negotiate an employment contract, include severance in your discussions. Have whatever you agree on included IN WRITING in the final contract you sign prior to beginning your employment.
Not one expect a things to go south when they are in the beginning of any relationship. But remember, you can't trust anyone anymore. You have to look out for yourself from the very beginning. Because the company is certainly looking out for their best interest.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum amount of time to get severance ? I was a little over a year and a half in ... the way this situation was handled was a joke.

Enterprise wants you to sign the severance package as soon as possible I think I'm going to wait 30 days because with that extra $600 it only covers until the end of July so this would affect my unemployment pay quite a bit so I am going to wait a little bit before I sign it

They apparently got money to pay the severance to their good workers they laid off but not enough to just keep us furloughed? Many people don’t even use ANY of your benefits. Mind blowing. Keep laying off Chrissy and just see how far that’ll get you when business picks up and you hire rejects off the street to work for you, let us know how that works out for ya.

So, I received the call from HR today informing me I've been laid off. I was a manager with the company but haven't received any paperwork or anything let.
I suggest you all go counsult an attorney, especially if you're a contract employee. I tried to include my attorney on the call and the company freaked out! "There's no need for that" and "well we don't have counsel here at the moment, why do you need yours" and "do you really want to do down that road, we're just doing our job" it was absurd. So needless to say I will not be signing anything until my lawyer has looked over it.
It's also concerning that Enterprise is asking for a huge buyout while terminating employees. I asked if the company had any plans to assist us with career counselors or job placement and didn't get an answer. The culture of the company has tried to convince us this was a larger than life company that would do anything for us at the drop of at hat. Well something is wrong with this situation. I'll post what my attorney said pursuiant to my state but you should all speak to someone.

I was going to hit my 3 year anniversary next month, so I was only given 2 weeks of pay for my severance. When I asked if they'll give me credit for the third year since Im legit 11 days away from it, I received a firm no. There's that.
Excuse me as I go browse for healthcare providers.

Anyone asked for anything more before they sign? I’m hoping to get it paid in a couple lump sums so I can file for unemployment sooner.

In my meeting they clearly stated we would receive 7 paid days for each year of service. What was sent in my severance offer does not even come close. The whole way this was done was so unprofessional. Can't trust anything they told us in that meeting.

Severance for me was one week of pay per year worked but they deducted the two weeks they paid while furloughed lol what a joke. They are also not sending severance in a lump sum but in biweekly payments.
