Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

UP did excellent in 1Q earnings

Earnings beat all estimates. Although most of the dates were pre-coronavirus. This should tell you that the non agreement hour reductions are nothing more than testing the waters to run with less management. Sad for employees but good for shareholders.

Sounds like you’re a lazy union worker.

I agree but who will take the place of vena and lance when all the non essentials are fired?

Good. UP can and should operate with fewer managers. Entire layers of redundant management can be eliminated/consolidated/streamlined for greater value and efficiency.

Break the unions, reduce management, and retain only those essential functions that cannot be outsourced, automated, and/or contracted out to a third party domestically. This is how to run a business at a profit in the 21st Century.
