Thread regarding FGX International Holdings Ltd. layoffs

FGX terminated thousands

Fgxi terminated all I field personal. Thousands as of April. Employees were furloughed in March 2020. Then April let them all go and is having 3rd party company doing our jobs.

Covid-19 is the excuse.

They should get their own team back! Premium is doing a horrible job since Acosta purchased them! No stores are getting done since the merger. There are boxes in the back piled up so high. There’s no training whatsoever I heard from a friend of mine who works there!
They sc--wed themselves!!

I worked for FGX for over 10 years. When I got the call in March I had two hours to complete any stores. I had over 15 hours scheduled so I was only able to service my local DG. My territory wash huge and in two states. I always had excellent reviews and never had any complaints. Driveline cannot keep up with the work they already had. The actually never service my local DG. Driveline not only offers no training, but they pay $9 to $10 per hour. I just spoke to the new Driveline employee for this area and she said Driveline no longer services FGX....no wonder...they never opened a single box. A little research and I see Premium as it now. They may be saving payroll and mileage money, but they have lost sales.

Worked for FGX for 7 years. They kept reducing territory. Didnt want you to work more than 8 hours a week so you could be free to do resets. The only problem with that was reset for only a couple times a year. They sent me all over creation until they started paying mileage then they just cut my territory with no warning. They did everything they could to cut your pay. So I agree with everyone else's assessment...they used Covid-19 as an excuse. They were already planning to dump their employees. They just used Covid to make themselves look less like the a**holes they really are.

I was with FGXI since 2011 and had complete support from my DM who was also terminated without warning. I was told by a CVS employee that she saw someone working on glasses but did not know the company. I should have guessed they were going 3rd party. I worked for Lawrence, Driveline, Premium, and many others over last 25 years. Driveline's training was horrible and Lawrence never gave any pay increases so not surprised $ was motive. It's always been about the bottom line and always will be.

Premium Retail Services got the contract for merchandising FGX glasses for all stores.
They were also the 3rd party vendor that FGX hired in January 2020 to do inventory and resets in Rite Aid stores. That must have been the trial run.
Plain and simple we were lied to
Our furloughs and layoffs had nothing to do with Covid 19.
Shame on FGXI

FGXI s—ed as an employer. Little or no training. Terrible pay for milage, among many other things. As far as territory mgrs, well...I am sure they got a sizable payout and then the 600.00 per week unemployment. **Seriously...FGXI should have lawsuits brought against them. They knew before covid 19 they were going to do these layoffs. It takes several weeks or months to line out Crossmark, Driveline ect.. and to sign contracts with these companies, to do their work. COVID-19 was only an excuse.

I was suspicious after reading the letter from Rhode Island headquarters in April that WHY would the company termintate the whole field?

Time passed and last month approved my suspicious but investingating if there was any movement on re-hiring? Nope. Upon reading from this website and searching out on Indeed.com and glassdoor.com- yelp my suspicions were right! Shame on Foster Grant- shame on you!

I worked for two years and loved my manager. Now, I wandered what happen to territory managers!

Now, one of the manager of one my ex account(s) ask me when I may begin service— I was grocery shopping- I told the manager what I read online and what may have occurred,
He to, was in SHOCK!

I told him to expect maybe a third party to work the account or yet maybe his own employees.

Two years employed till the furlough and now a termination of layoffs- and I was looking forward to working back in the Fall. WRONG!

I am a former 10 year employee and took great pride in my displays. Especially the stores I visited weekly. The last time I visited BJ's to shop, the display was an absolute disaster. Sunglass display was empty IN JULY.

Lawrence Merchandising has the contract for Shoprite grocery stores in New Jersey and possibly PA.
Premium Retail has the contract for Costco and Christmas tree shops.
Good luck FGXI, you will need it

I am a former employee of FGX (field rep) and left to manage a DG 3 years ago. We were told it was due to Covid but I had my doubts. The service I am getting from Driveline is TERRIBLE! No one even trained them how to do it. I had to train the rep but couldnt even do a thorough job because I'm covered up with my own stuff.

Crossmark received the FGX contract for CVS and is looking for merchandisers not only for FGX but for other stores.

I was with fgxi for 15 years. After being furloughed i then received the letter saying the company was changing the way it does business, but that I MAY be one to the ones they will bring back. I know driveline is doing most of the work and is not providing good service. I do merchandising for another company in the same territory i had with fgxi. The racks and displays are empty and the stores are very upset. Fgxi will find they made a big mistake by getting rid of a dedicated merchandising team! I called mid June to find out my status and they told me they are still working on things and I would know by the 29th of June which came and went

Thought companies were to take care of their employees. Not Foster Grant, they c-apped on all their employees! And, tried to make it look like covid virus was the reason. Ha-ha Foster Grant, you should be sued.

It is NOT due to Corona virus. They were planning this massive layoff. Went computerized, and I know for a fact Driveline was lined up end of Jan. 2020. As I was a field employee and went into a store and was told by their management that Driveline was doing the set. All Foster Grants boxes were already there. The Corina virus is just an easy way out for Foster Grant.
Shame on you Foster Grant!

They went with Driveline. Driveline can't keep up on my area as it is. No way they will be able to take on my 13 stores and provide the same level of service. Driveline pays so little they get what they pay for.

FGX went to A 3rd party company to save money and fired all the loyal employees they had for less qualified employees at Driveline for about $9.00 -$10.00 an hour they had this planned for a while since losing the Walmart account! FGX KARMA will come knocking at their door 🚪 KNOCK KNOCK
