The CTC is like a ghost town also I heard, but they have much of their engineering and management staff (essentially all) working from home. There is work but it's little and I think from what I was told that they are cutting expenses and not testing or doing work that isn't truly needed or even wanted. I think that second quarter is going to be a blood bath also in regard to financials.
Anyone have inside scoop on layoffs?
Management seems to be playing koi, about whether their will be a RIF and or furlough. Its obvious I dont know why it needs to be a secret. The truck side is literally a ghost town. Any insight appreciated.
That is the major problem with cummins, not he 10-80-10 not the ranking and not TMI. It's the fact that managers from the first level up can manipulate these things in order to protect their friends and neighbors. What Tom should do is have an outside (outside of indiana also) company to review and audit and look into every managers ranking and why and if they are consistent (yes they say that they use HR to help with that but they are just as shady as the rest of them) on what they are ranking people for. Also they should have the ability to receive complaints anonymous or not about managers being unfair and the reasons so it can be investigated around HR.
This is the only way that they can break the stranglehold of the you watch my back and I watch yours friends protecting other friends at the expense of others and even the company. So much stuff gets screwed in this company because they allow inept family members and friends that truly don't have the ability to do the job or jobs to still be in the position if not managing over it.
And your point on the 10-80-10 is what? Just looking at the past RIF's, they were not tied to the 10-80-10 and this has been proven many times in many locations. At the same time those 10-80-10 ratings are easily manipulated so that friends can remain, while the true top performers are let go. Cummins has done this for years and 10-80-10 plays no role in the RIF's..
Listen, Cummins performance review process operates strictly on the 10-80-10 model by every plant - not overall, but at every plant level. Good performers eventually fall into the minus 2 or 3 level. You fall out of favor, or just your turn, or perhaps your salary or age targets you - good bye even though you have gotten satisfactory reviews from your direct manager. Doesn’t matter since the plant managers are mandated to supply 10-80_19 results every year.
You mean some under-performers are still there? Wait, no, all the over performers were let go a few months ago. Wait, no, no executive leadership has been let go, maybe they were the under-performers? No? No rhyme or reason to their RIFs. Company is a disaster. Even before COVID.
"Underperformers" were laid off last week at CTC and CEP.
