Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why hasn't Ford cut salaries like FCA and GM??

I'd be all for a cut rather than a layoff. What is Jimmy waiting for??? He just wants to bleed faster? He should do a 4 day work week with a 20% pay cut. I can't see everyone going back to PD in a few weeks if Whitmer lifts the ban. They'll have to do cube distancing.

lay-off contractors is going on in PD department. Ford put too much money on GDIA without any paying back. Headcount cut in design department makes the company cannot guarantee vehicle quality. Mobility should leave to the tech company in CA. It seems that no one in that area feels anything they are doing is hopeful. Ford have no advantage at this area.

The tone in the last comment is a bit harsher, however, it is difficult to disagree what they said. I recently left Ford for this very reason. Peace !

Because only mo–ns like you would be left working in the company. All the good employees are leaving and more will leave once you cut their pay. I think Ford Should cut off 50% of all paper pushers and increase the pay by 50% of people that really do work that matters.

This goon ran steel case;what a stupid business. I think he should apply for Trump Admin position way better fit s— up to those Frauds.

Important? Vague, general, self serving, obvious, and unactionable, maybe.

@mdo+14AT9QLQ important is a relative term at Ford.

Quality is important, but we spend a lot in warranty. Profits are important, but we spend just about as much money as we make (in good quarters). Competitiveness is important, but our market share has slid every year since Mullaly left. Integrity is important, but we knowingly release defective designs like the DPS6. Customers are important, but we serve less of them since we pulled out of affordable cars.

Promotions are important, yes. Kissing a– for the promotion is important, double yes. Fat compensation packages are important, yes. Meetings which show how clever leadership is, most definitely yes. Diversity is important, yes but not in terms of thinking style or age. Paying consulting firms big money to teach you something you already know is important , yes.

So please, in the framework of my dark sarcasm explain to me how important this announcement is going to be.

Cuts are coming - with everyone being at home, the ability to let people go was never as easy. Where just an email / conference call from termination with no office drama.

Because the Ford glass house are blinded by perceived future profits in data mining gold.

A fool and his money soon part. Evidence the huge cash outflow and the need to take on more debt at insane interest rates just to keep the doors open.

Both F and FC are levered up , bets were placed , the economy shifted, instead of adapting to the economy. they doubled down on existing bets .

Cuts will come. Don’t be lulled into complacency.

They cut 20% of agency hours and also furloughed many. I think that was the first step to slow the bleed before cutting salaried employee hours.
