Thread regarding Long Island University/C.W.Post Campus layoffs

Coronavirus and LIU layoffs

"March 25, 10 a.m. LIU Post, which is part of Long Island University, has announced temporary layoffs of dozens of employees, Newsday reported. The university did not specify how many employees were laid off, what their job roles are or if it is committed to bringing them back when the campus opens again."

I think it was sad that the administration chose layoffs versus furloughs. If they were furloughed at least they wouldn't have to stress over the loss of their health insurance. They also have to stress over the possibility that they are not going to be brought back. I do not work for the university but I feel terrible for all the people that were laid off at this terrible time. This is the time where we should all try to pull together and help as many people as we can. I know many small businesses that chose to furlough their employees and the bosses took a pay cut to let the laid off employees have a little hope. I hope this post is read by your administration and they rethink their strategy at this awful time. Stay safe and many thanks to all the hospital, medical, grocery store workers, police, fireman, and d–g store employees that are out there on the front lines.
