Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Coronavirus

Working at Kmart during coronavirus. No employees working except managers and what full timers we have. Shoplifter heaven in our store right now. Cost more to have the lights on then we are making in sales. Would be better off closing the store for now.

In my state all non essential businesses are closed. I guess Kmart slides thru but Sears? How?

This is not the time to cut payroll but to increase it. Since nothing is open this could be an opportunity of sorts to sell some things. Trucks need to come from the closing stores. Even target is selling some odd stuff right now but you have to be smart about it and have some employees in hand.

Yes let's stay open to show our customers the empty aisles in Kmarts and the empty hardware depts in Sears. You need a refrigerator come to Sears so we can show you all the floor models that are not orderable. Oh and you might need some work wear but guess what at Sears all of apparel is roped off, you can't shop it.
EMBARRASSING!!!
The customers choice of retailers is limited right now and we are showing them our true colors.
Empty stores with non orderable product!
Essential retailer - I think not.
Just another greedy retailer putting their employees at risk of death 🤑🤑🤑

Last Wednesday, we were told by the store manager not to accept receipt printed coupons because no discounts were being honored by corporate due to the increased operating costs from covid-19. Stupidity. We started giving out the number for corporate for members to call in complaints. On Friday he tells us that he misunderstood the communication from the DM. Stupidity. What a way to keep members coming back!!

There is no tax advantage to staying open. These people make no money to pay taxes on

Managers and Full Timers are the only ones working in some cases ‘cause of the slashed payroll budgets and that’s what RD’s email is saying to do. We barely have grocery...I understand keeping the stores who have an actual pharmacy open, but the other stores, we are not being replenished with the merchandise that is needed...we have empty counters and counters where 5’ feet have been taken off...we look like a liquidating store. There have been countless employees who have been sick or have had a family member sick, but management does not tell you or report it.

I mean it’s true for all the stores open during this mess. There most be some kind of tax break as to why they stay open.
