Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Shame on Boeing leadership

It took a man losing his life to finally approve a closing - and even that is just a single site!!! What will it take for this company to take this threat seriously? How bad does it have to get?

It really makes me sick to know how little we matter when compared to the mighty dollar.

As an office worker we do have it easier to telecommute for sure but even in this seat I feel Boeing is letting its people and workers down. We still have to go into labs and places they NEVER clean -janitorial is not allowed in there so imagine how unsafe anyone feels right now.

I would like to be proud of the company I work for but right now that is hard to say... on either side of the work place floor.

I've been out since 3/X- to protect myself and family. I was called SUN 3/22 to self-quarantine due to poss. exposure at work. My whole team was called out on SUN. As was another supporting org. So- my 2 cents from no one asking- Boeing had every intention of remaining open, but no one is left to run the shop. "Manufacturing" is considered essential. I am "lucky"- have AMPP and Pension-buyout to rely on $hort-term. But, make no mistake- Boeing did not close because a union steward died. Sh–, I've seen people (2) die on the job, and we don't mention it. An ambulance pulls up, pulls away, and back to work. It is good press for Boeing (union steward dies; Boeing suspends operations "in response"), but I'm sure- as soon as the a–hole-in-chief gives the green light- it'll be back to inhaling each others' coughs as we work. Of course more people will die. We are just starting to see the numbers jump here at home. Stay home if you care about your life. Dead people can't work. (*Unless you are a ghost, but that is unpaid and FMLA won't cover it). P.S. Layoffs- um...

Sorry to say about the 787 guy that passed, but Boeing did not shutdown because of him, over the weekend mass amounts of phone calls went out to union workers to self quarantine in Everett and that's why the shut down not enough workers to keep the plant running.

My condolences to any family that has lost someone due to this crazy virus.

The decision to stay home didn't have to wait till the shutdown. But no one wants to admit to themselves that they just wanted time off with pay cause they cant afford to go days without pay. Why not just come out and be upfront about it. My absence has been excused to care for my kids and keep my family safe. And Im not a FMLA abuser I just have a savings.

Everybody situation is different but I've only heard people talk about all they extra toys and fancy car payments they need to keep up on. Shame on nobody but them, Boeing leadership didnt force anybody to sign for that. SHAME ON YOU for your lack of planning for yourself and family. But you got to blame someone else.....You doing the same thing the company has been doing, just blame someone else. Now complain cause you didnt consider how you or family can safely go months without pay. I dont give a damn about Boeing leadership, at the end of the day its my decision if choose to go to work during rona times.
