Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Different Company, Same industry, Same problems

Recent article regarding our industry and the current pandemic. The section pertaining to the teleconferenced call with management being more concerned with numbers than the affects of the virus hits hard. Think about that as some of you continue to fuel the fires of the ongoing battle being waged on here between field service and FTTH. Instead of attacking one another maybe one day you’ll realize you can do more if we unite forces. This isn’t about department vs department, this is about Us (the ones on the front lines keeping the system running) VS Them (The management team sitting safe and comfortably at home in their McMansions sending us directly into harms way)

We hold all the cards here, not them but as long as we continue to fight amongst each other they remain in control. Think about it.

“The technician said that during an all-team call with management across New Jersey last week, "The numbers were the main talk of that conversation, as opposed to the pandemic."
"I know a lot of people don't have jobs at this point. I'm grateful to have one, but at the same time it’s crazy," he added. "I feel like more could be done to protect us, and they’re not doing it in the name of profits."

Do walk out or a sick out. Or will that break the contract? Test your theory. That is the power of union the contract is week did not work. That is the card. This site is a joke.

“ What cards contractors due the same job?”

I agree and and this is definitely true but in the current state of affairs how quickly do you think that they would be able to scrounge up enough contracted labor if there was a company wide work stoppage? Not to mention how long before the entire system fell into disrepair as a result of the often shoddy work that contractors do? The reality is that this would never happen so long as we have the immature war which wages on between the field service babies and FTTH toddlers. Not too mention everyone else who simply sits on their hands instead of questioning what is going on. Place is more like a nursery than a telecom company based on what I read here. Hats off to that tech in Brooklyn who attempted to blow the top off the pot and went to the media with his story. Wish their were more people like him stepping out from the shadows to shed light on how poorly this situation is being handled.
