Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

People are already getting laid off?

Is it true some people have been laid off last week? Not furloughed, but laid off?

Was let go 4/3/2020 along with 25 more of co-workers across the country. I cringe when I see on linkedin how amazing michael dell is giving millions to help COVID. How about not firing employees during a worldwide pandemic and keeping our health insurance for 6 months? I love the company, not so much on management layers.

You can measure the integrity of a company by how they treat their employees when times are tough. Regardless of where you stand in the food-chain of Dell... It's almost impossible to justify cutting people loose during a worldwide pandemic where most everyone is being told to "shelter-in-place." (whether it was a planned layoff or not) Dell has chosen the worst possible action at the worst possible time. Not only did Dell do a WFR where a good portion of highly talented people lost their job and benefits, they also froze or cancelled all open requisitions so those people couldn't land in a better role with a different bottom-line. Management will always claim this is good business, but it's just bad judgement and shows a lack of resolve to work through problems. If you take care of your workers.. They will also take of you. So long Dell... GBGR.

Yes, I wanted the ask the male managers and VPs explaining about the goal of having 40% women in management in 2030 who and when is going to leave their job to make room for the women.

layoff is not about cost or numbers silly. It's about who you are. cut off all the workers!! leave the management alone they are "amazing" they can change the world themselves and nobody who out work for them worth anything.

I knew Dell was going to layoff my department. I was lucky to be able to retire after 22 years. Brush your resume and find a place that laying off is not the first thing that comes after bad management decisions.

Brush off your resume, grow your LinkedIN network, and start looking for a job now. There will be many more behind you in line, because that is life.

Can also confirm Dell is undergoing a substantial WFR across sales.

From what I am hearing, there have been a few layoffs in certain segments but nothing that wasn't already in the works. Some contractors have been let go but again, nothing related to COVID-19.

I can confirm, as someone who has been impacted, that yes, Dell is going thru a substantial WFR.

Yes, my team and I were laid off last week. If your office isn't in RR or OKC, my boss says we cost too much so laid off Nashua, in addition to one in NY, 2 in MN, and 1 in Michigan. No matter how long it's been planned, it's piss poor timing. They could have waited until we COULD go look for a job. Now, we can't, who is hiring and who is allowing anyone in their offices?? Plus, they have this 2030 goal: 50% of the workforce to be female and 40% of them to be in leadership. I'm a female manager. Not off to a good start if you ask me.

Yes, some laid off - but this had been planned before the virus outbreak.
