Graduated in 2019 and got a position in May at ADP as a dev. It seems obvious to me that we will have a recession soon and first ones in are normally the first ones out. Everyone's reassuring me that it'll all be okay but it doesn't seem to be. Probably should have been preparing for the worst but I assumed that I was wrong about 2020 recession and yet here we are. For the old timers here how did ADP react in 01 and 08?

You are only ok at ADP if you are not of sound mind and think it is ok to live in fear and get paid peanuts and be highly overworked and treated with no respect by the terrible excuse for management at this company.
Depends on your pay. If you're considered cheaper paid (new grad, less experience, newly employed, not much 401k), it is best for ADP to keep you. You are ideal to their business-eager to work and not costly to them at all.
The employment situation at ADP is that it is a revolving door of new employees coming in and new employees going out. The pay is too low for the work expected and the management dysfunctional and too wacky to hold employees for long.
ADP is simply not a good place to build a career. This company may work for college graduates and other new employees to the workforce who need to get a first job, but after that should jump to something better, more solid, and more stable.
I would expect you to be laid off (or quit due to the horrid management) within 8-12 months. The coronavirus is a new wrinkle and ADP won't pass up cutting costs at anyones expense in order for the execs to profit further.
My two cents is that if you’re good; and I’ll assume that you are; you’re very safe. They value new, young blood. But, expect to work hard and keep improving yourself.
Good luck!
New hires are disposable and are not valued by ADP. Wages were much higher years ago to prove it. Hang on to your job for now while this virus pandemic passes. But then go somewhere else. You'll be surprised how much more you will be paid for similar work at a new company.
You are actually in a better spot then most. In times of trouble ADP looks to get rid of tenured employees, not new hires. I think you will be ok for a few years
ADP is not a good place to build a career. While most businesses are cutthroat and intensely focus on the bottom line and not their employees, it is especially so at ADP. Employees are not valued and are only there to be worked hard, lied to, and manipulated. I worked for ADP for almost 30 years and it was a struggle to retain my sanity there. I am now retired out of there. I can't believe I worked for them for so long.
That said, the company has gone downhill even more in the last few years with lower wages and a more disposable workforce. It certainly is not a good idea to work for them for any length of time any more. At least this is your first job out of college so you don't have much to lose by leaving. This is actually good for you since you now have both a degree and work experience. Take any experience that you can get from ADP and then move on to a better job where you can grow your career.
I believe you made a mistake coming to ADP in the first place. Don't make another one waiting around for even more layoffs accelerated by the downturn in the market. Find a better company to work for immediately.

Keep continually looking for other opportunities wherever they may arise ....
And last but not least , coronavirus or no coronavirus , absolutely positively do not believe or trust anything the upper management bas*tards at this company tell you.
