Thread regarding United Airlines (United Continental Holdings Inc. - UAL Corp.) layoffs

Karma

The airlines have made flying an uncomfortable, disgusting chore. NO legroom, high prices, unreasonable charges for baggage, surely employees, non-compliance with FAA safety regulations, stale air recirculation in cabin, etc., etc. And now they want a bailout? They can take their bailout request and fly it up where the sun don’t shine.

Greyhound would be better for the person complaining about airlines, but wait, that would cost more. Ticket prices, in real dollars, have not changed in the last 30 years. Meaning flights are extremely cheap these days compared to 30 years ago.
I remember when people didn't fly in pajamas and literally rolled out of bed to get on a flight. Baggage fees are optional, you don't have to check one if you have carry-on and don't buy a Basic Economy ticket. But most will and complain why they have to pay for their bag. Same people that DON'T complain about mandatory resorts fee at hotels and happily sit in the bleeder seats at sporting events.

First of all it’s “surly” but “surely” you must know that spelling isn’t your strong suit, and don’t call me Shirley. Lol 😂 Second of all “non-compliance with federal regulations”. Seriously? There is absolutely no wiggle room with said regulations. Third, stale air? About 80% is fresh and the rest is scrubbed/filtered and recirculated to save fuel to reduce costs for you the passenger. It’s the way the manufacturers designed the aircraft to operate, not the airlines. Leg room is tight in the back but for how cheap those tickets are some think it’s worth it. If you’re too cheap to move up then quit complaining about those who want cheap tickets. It seems to me that if you don’t want to fly, if you actually ever do, then just drive across the country. I’m sure you’d enjoy that convenience much more. And no, I don’t work for United.....
