Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Guess who’s really screwed?

I know a couple of people who accepted the voluntary separation package. Things looked great last summer when they accepted the offer. The economy was doing well, stock market flying high, and low, low unemployment. All of that is gone now. Those who aren’t retiring are in big trouble. Jobs will be drying up like a summer day in Death Valley. I feel sorry for my co-workers. I’ve heard that Ricoh will not rehire any of these people.

I accepted the latest VSIP and it clearly states that I will NOT be eligible for rehire. Everyone I’ve talked to said the same thing. I wouldn’t rehire with Ricoh no matter what. It’s just too stressful and not worth it.

I just took the most recent buy out the VSIP. According to the email they sent me during this round you WILL be eligible for rehire, says clear as day. Eligible for rehire? Yes. Do I do I want to go back there hell no! That was on June 30, 2020 the last day you could possibly take the buyout. The nightmares we’re getting to me so I had to leave that place.

30 techs laid off and 1 service manager in the Mid-South.

I guess Ricoh did not get enough volunteers with the separation package they offered this year as I t looks like they have started or may have already been letting people go. I wonder how bad it’s going to get? Is this true in other areas?

Correct. Once you take the severance package you can’t be rehired. Writing is on the wall (wipe away the dust) - that company is on the ropes. I worked there a pretty long time. The last couple years were hell and management did their best to drive loyal people out. Sayonara.

The problem I witnessed with Ricoh's upper management is belligerent bullies towards others. Typical hustling copier sales reps turned into managers supporting good old boy paradigm. They are worse for your health than covid-19.

I work at Ricoh and haven't heard anything about layoffs. We are required to take 2 weeks of furlough between now and the end of June. We are keeping our insurance during this time as well as vacations and sick leave. I would be interested in more information on these layoffs that were mentioned.

Big layoffs in Chicago today. Ricoh only cares about money and not people. They’ve already announced no merit increases for anyone in 2020, even those who risked their health to be on the job for them. They are truly heartless.

Let them go now? When the job market is imploding? I think most would want to stay put until the agreed date.

I was wondering since they keep telling us how much that we need to cut back on everything, that why doesn't management let the ones that are still here that accepted the VSIP, go early. I think most would welcome that and then Ricoh could save that money. Just my 2 cents.
