Save a Barrel

Legacy APC folks know the drill.

Let's come up with "Save a Barrel" cost reductions. Here's some of the best from 2016 to start (they actually go well with WFH):

  1. Change all printers to automatically print double-sided in black and white (ignore that we have to go a re-print in color after realizing it printed B&W).
  2. Work from home on your Friday off.
  3. Work from home on your Friday ON (really, Karen?).
  4. Use your own airline miles for work travel.
  5. Skip lunch

Or to save money also permanently work from home.

Unfortunately, all those cost savings ideas, when added together, probably equate to less than 1% of what Occidental will be paying to Berkshire for Buffet’s preferred shares dividend. The bed was made when this deal was forced at all cost nearly a year ago. Now it is, sadly, time to lay in it.

Bring your own coffee, water, cokes, or go buy it.
No more car pool reimbursement. (Unless the company is getting a tax credit.)
No more gym reimbursement.
No more child care subsidies.
No more salary increases for living in USA and working in Midland, etc. (It cost a lot to live in Denver as well.)
No more educational reimbursement.
No more bonding leave for men. (The women are having the babies and deserve the time.)
Less conferences and offsite classes.
Bring your own pen, pencils, stables, etc.
Less travel and more Skype meetings.
Pay your own phone bills and phone and only bill for company business to be reimbursed.

** I would rather give up the above than lose my job, cut my pay, or cut 401k and retirement, or health benefits. I can live without the above and more, and I think many of us could.
