Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Is FTTH considered essential work ?

With all the madness going on I don’t get how they can still push numbers on us just because it’s coming close to the end of the month . Business as usual? Help us understand what’s going on here because I feel that FTTH should be shut down as well . Especially with one of the workers having the virus and the rest of us being informed at the last minute.

Ftth is safest place to be right now. Why are you complaining? Would you rather be in the field? I feel for those guys but in no way want ftth to go away, especially now.

We’ve been doing that for years lol . Here’s the question would you go back to fs? No there’s your answer on who’s got a better gig so stop ftth . You guys have it made and as far as masks gloves etc . If you need it not sure why you just are in your trucks but if you need to know we did get wipes and gloves , the masks are on back order nation wide . Just be safe I don’t care who you are . Ftth or fs we were all the same people at one point TECHS.

Not to mention pissing in bottles and taking dumps in buckets because we can’t leave our locations . So field service you were saying ? FTTH is spoiled ? I wonder if we could report this to the labor board

True, like spectrum was still forcing people to work in the office instead from home. Even our ROC is working from home now

If you dont wanna be on the project anymore then just bow out and leave, go back to field service and stop whining. Alot of you guys are plain old haters.. you hate osp, you hate ftth guys, the company...what do you actually like? If your not facing customers your risk is low. True they should be supplying us with n95 masks and latex gloves and sanitizers and they sent out an email that they are. Hopefully soon they will as they said. Would've been smarter if they had them before hand. At least they are giving constant covid19 updates of the moves their making. Other people i know that work for other companies cant even get definitive answers.

Just cause we’re not customer facing doesn’t mean we won’t get exposed to what’s going around . Some of the towns we work in could have it . Honestly it could be anywhere . Who knows what the hell is going on out here . But we need to start taking this more seriously . We all have families we go to every night . God forbid we bring this virus home. Put your egos to the side for one damn second and realize that we all need to come together as a company and protect eachother . Sit here and trash this post all you want but who ever posted it has a valid point here . Unless it’s emergency we don’t need to be out there . What’s going on obviously hasn’t sunk into your heads yet. I’m sry to say but I hope they do shut the project . Go home spend time with your families and have a little reality check . There will always be opportunities in life to make money but your family will only be around for so long . Let that sink in for a little ....

I hope we don’t have a work stoppage. I still buy my own stock and tools for the project. I’m going to buy my own pants as well. Don’t worry I’ll still get my numbers!!! We should go Union! At least we can have a contract that would get us tools and supplies, and uniforms. Also the amount of work on the project is ridiculous. In need to drive hours to the worksite and still get 7 PDOS built or else!! I would pay a union just to have pice of mind! Pop
