They will be sending out the Furlough / Layoff notices end of this week. That is what we just heard from HR. It will be hitting mostly contractors, IT staff, administrators, support staff, and low level shop guys. Roughly 20% of Schdy campus (around 500 people). Alot from renewables (bldg 53)

Essential because of service work, have you not been paying attention theres a travel ban in effect so even if these bars get done theres no one around to install them because they cant fly or are on lock down.

Essential because of service work being done there.
Power plants that are shut down waiting for parts to come back and get up and running again..that's how they justify essential.

Why would Schenectady close over a coronavirus? Coronavirus has been around for thousands of years it is just a cold. You act like this is Sars COVID-19 or something. Keep working in the shop as I sit home and work you union pest

Schenectady close has that's a laugh, they claim they are essential but to who? A layoff now due to the virus would have no effect on products that wont be in operation til next year. But they claim we are essential.
