PPG Putting the almighty dollars over the safety of their Employees!

Well here we go again, yet another misstep by PPG. If the PPG services program which drove away almost all of the Union work, the numerous price increases, or the rebranding of products AGAIN wasn’t enough now they are putting the almighty dollar above the safety of their employees in the store. Let me start buy saying these are unprecedented times and many people are scared and worried about this virus. Yes PPG have closed locations but ONLY if the local government requires it. Yet we are being told by the powers that be that PPG is staying ahead of this. It sounds to me that they are only reacting to what they are being told to do. If they really wanted to be ahead of this they would have put their employees health and wellness above everything else and temporarily close our locations. Or at the very least reduce the amount of hours and days the store is open. But they justify us staying open due to us being an “Essential” business. In my opinion the only real essential businesses that people are relying on now are grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations etc. Paint Stores are not in my opinion....will it be an inconvenience to some customers yes, but I think they would understand why we are doing it. What is it going to take several employees getting sick, in which that store would have to close anyway or God forbid someone dying before they realize that maybe we could have done things differently. As a store employee I am not only worried about possibly contracting the virus myself but there are other employees in the store that have people at home that if they were to get it
It would be VERY dangerous for their loved ones. It would be nice if PPG said you know what we know this may cause us to lose some money’s due inconvenience some customers for a short time but we need to make sure that All of our people are safe and out of harms way!.........I won’t hold my breath.

Several company owned PPG Store Managers have tested positive for Covid 19 and PPG has downplayed it. This company has very low regard for the safety of its employees. SW continues to lead the market and PPG continues in a downward spin.

Extremely poor leadership starting with CEO. Architectural Division (company owned stores) will most likely all go away by 2022 with the bulk of product now being sold through Home Depot.

Well get ready. It was informally announced this morning on a podcast by a senior leader that ALL salaried employees would be taking a pay cut and there will be layoffs.

You’re about to get your wish big boy. And it won’t be PPG losing money it will be the employees that will be laid off. Maybe you’ll be happy now.

LOL at the coporate shill below who can't even get basic facts about the virus correct vs. the common flu. What a laugh.

This shill is probably working from home now too. If things are so great out here, how about coming out intfo the field until this ends? Get some skin in the game. You won't though, you'll hide in your living room.

OP is correct. PPG doens't care about worker safety or government mandates. Everyone needs to look out for themseves. Not like this company is going to guarantee us pay if we get sick because of their actions. The writing is on the wall anyways. Our benefits, salary, and 401K will all be gone soon when we get laid off.

Have you ever worried about getting the flu? That is MUCH more common and much more deadly. We can't over react. We have to be safe and use common sense methods but closing stores is a last resort. Our company pays our salary, a big portion of our medical benefits, 401k match etc. That could all be gone if we aren't competitive.
