Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

After being laid off from Sungard AS awhile back I ended up at a BPO and it was extremely toxic. I worked i n a similar environment before and it too was bad. The worst day at Sungard was not as bad as the best day at those two jobs. Sungard AS has a lot of issues and the executive team is very very disassociated with what the front lines need let alone what they endure. But that is not abnormal in large companies. If I had the opportunity to work at Sungard again I would... maybe not right now but if they stabilize financially I would. The environment and the people I worked with were great.

Make payroll? One day pretty soon we'll walk from the parking lot to the building and notice that the doors are locked and our email no longer refreshes.

I don't care about a raise - Q1 is coming to a close with no answers. I'm pointing out a lack of transparency. I've always taken rumors that SG can't pay its expenses with a grain of salt. When info about pay is being withheld, it make me wonder if there's something to those rumors. Then I begin to wonder if there's going to come a day where paychecks start getting delayed. Plus I just think it's gutless that you can't come out and be honest with your employees.

Look everyone ... it’s OPG junior! The company needs everyone right now in this crisis ... once it’s through they’ll be back to RIFs like usual

@5yoj+143EoKSi - As someone who has worked in service industry, retail, and traditional call-center environments, I can assure you - "they" certainly do NOT "treat us like dirt". Not even close. If you think RIFs, lack of a raise, or potentially loss of 401K match constitutes being "treated like dirt" I would dare you to work a service industry gig.

Obviously this company has issues but I'm grateful to be working at all, especially during the COVID-19 situation, for a company who still pays for certifications and offers tuition reimbursement. A growing percentage of citizens aren't so lucky right now.

I agree they are snakes all of them treat us like dirt.

I am perplexed by the attitude of management with regard to raises/bonuses. If there will be no raises, then announce it. I'm a big boy, I'll be fine. Not saying anything with regard to pay is despicable and makes me distrust this management team.

I am perplexed by the attitude of management at Sungard AS... for years now, they've been laying off people with no notice, and cutting severance with no notice as well... the ultimate act of uncaring. Especially in the network space (see the other topic including the discussion of network 2.0).

This morning the CEO sends an email says in part "With a significantly larger number of companies mobilizing a virtual workforce, our customers are looking for us to help with the need for increased VPN connectivity and bandwidth access, as examples. These types of changes require the realtime support of our network engineers and experts."

That's right, people, we're really glad you're here, and WE CARE A LOT right until network 2.0 kicks in... then get OUT. The new SungardAS for network engineers globally starts on May 1. Until then, boy we really need you.

Knowing that many people need to report to work, perhaps SgAS would emulate the gesture that the City of Philadelphia made to workers and give them 50% more. If you feel your personal safety is in jeopardy, then I would talk to HR to help protect your job.

Agreed and thank you. I guess it's good for all that work from home, while dcops works and sees nothing in return. No word on raises just hey you are essential so essential you can risk it all for a company that appreciates us so much. If I sound angry I am people sit at home safe at all me to do there work. You tell me how would you feel if rolls were reversed. I just hope after this they show us how essential we are. I won't hold my breath. Stay safe no negative just venting
