Thread regarding United Airlines (United Continental Holdings Inc. - UAL Corp.) layoffs

united Airlines

In a situation like this, is united cutting the base and line stations equally by seniority combined. contract does talk about base protection no lay off clause,. Will this hold or everything goes by seniority?
Does a 1 Year seniority hold at the base while a 10 year mechanic at the line gets furloughed?

Thanks

That’s right and everything get a mess as far as seniority. All managers positions take over as an hourly employees and keep the full seniority.

They will go strictly by seniority hire date for RIF . Years of service and hire date will be your relocation ticket.

That is a resounding negative. If you have one year at the base or shop and three years on the line on the ramp it goes totally by seniority no matter what.

Once they declare bankruptcy it invalidates all union contracts and they can layoff whoever they want.
