Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

It is such a shame

It is such a shame that Hy-Vee has had to stoop so low as to treat some of their very long-term, loyal employees in the way they did.

Two weeks of severance after 33 years? No notice? Immediate termination of insurance? Sure, you can get COBRA but honestly, can people afford that on unemployment ($1800 per month for our family members)? I am sure the CEO or the board members cannot relate to that since they are still making their millions. I hope you sleep well.

I am not a former employee, but i know first hand from our family member what happened and I will never step foot in another Hy-Vee store. Hy-Vee is not the only store in town.

Different employees got different things happen. I was full time for a few years but all in all an employee for almost two decades. Started when I Was 15. I was made part time. They didn’t change my pay like they did to many others but I have to pay for my cobra insurance out of pocket...almost $600 a month. That’s not including my pr-scrip-ions. How can I Pay my bills? My cobra is only in effect for 90 days. After that I’m without insurance, so They’re forcing me to quit. I’ve worked most shifts through my break, worked every holiday, never called in and my managers could never find reasons to give me below four or five stars on my performance reviews. Managers who slacked off and hid in the rpm office and coolers to get out of work kept their jobs.
