Thread regarding Sears layoffs

They don’t care...

Work in the call centers and they are making us come into work... half of the employees have been spreading this to one another. It ain’t going to stop! Please why hold the employees accountable when if we don’t come in we won’t get paid anyways, you aren’t losing anything.. except the respect of your employees, another reason to hate this company

What state are you in? There are requirements now varying state by state about how many people can be together in one place and how far apart.
If you have a legitimate fear of contracting the coronavirus you can leave your job here and get temp unemployment.
I'm in Massachusetts.

@OP, they aren't "making you come in". That being your job, or not, is up to you.

I don’t think they are implying that the whole department be shut down. It makes perfect sense really, basically they are saying if someone is sick in the department let them stay home sick without punishment to help prevent spread in the department. Simple enough. If someone wants to be lazy and not come in or “pretend to be sick”, let them, they aren’t getting paid for it anyways so they are the ones losing out themselves, you know? Either way the company wins, you don’t come in, they don’t pay you and it keeps from other employees from getting sick.

The people sick should not go into work they are selfish but a few sick people doesn't mean a whole call centre should close down and no one work. What coronavirus has shown is how western society will do and say anything to avoid having to work due to being pure lazy. As has been said many times before seats is dead go find a new job, but you clearly are too lazy or such a poor quality worker you haven't bothered to try.

Whoever wrote the original post - now would be a good time to alert your local media about what the McManagement is doing in your call centers. Bonus points if you can furnish them with an email or other form of written communication that mandates attendance during the coronavirus outbreak.

As I have said before, no, this company does not care for its employees. They won't shut down at all unless the government mandates it. They want to make as much money as possible to keep the facade of this company as long as possible.
