Vantage is a stillborn baby. Go to Teradata community forum and check how many posts are out there in the Vantage category. About 15 in total since it was “launched” in 2018. Nobody is buying it and why would you with so many cheaper alternatives.

"#Vantage is simply Aster, attached to the DWH. Slower than herd of snails, with functionality matching early 2010s. "

Hmm. I guess you aren't plugged into what's happening at customer sites. New data stores. Analyzing data in place using multiple tools. Transparently pulling data from other systems into the analysis. R and Python support. I WISH TDC could have done such things in 2010.

Thanks for the link. A very accurate report. It is clear that the current C-suite needs to be swept away. The TDC executives seem to be busy with milking TDC as much as possible, for their own benefit. See the "Executive Compensation Adds Risk" section in the report.

#Vantage is simply Aster, attached to the DWH. Slower than herd of snails, with functionality matching early 2010s. It didn't sell before, is not selling now. Renaming is not really a strategy to win the market in 2020

The ship is sinking and the external world has finally noticed. Still, the author called the product great, which by now is only partially true. #Vantage as enterprise solution with 10 concurrent jobs for handicapped half-baked outdated MLE. Great brand is going down, result of mismanagement and no vision.

Ah, the OpEx vs Capex conflict. Suggestion is go with what makes your company successful. “Open source in the cloud” data warehousing solutions are as free as a free puppy.

I’ve had some very in-depth conversation with people “close to the matter” in the industry and I was told that Snowflake is involved in handing out hefty kickbacks to its customer contacts. At least one such person seemed to be an ex-Snowflake employee, he didn’t divulge much but indicated that there is some truth to this. It’s also a matter of time that either MS or AWS or Oracle acquires Snowflake. Our company moved to SF about 1.5 yrs ago; it was all fine and dandy in the beginning but lately the monthly bills are becoming a sore in Leadership’s eyes and there’s already discussion around “something Open Source in the Cloud“.

For the interviewing gentlemen, please understand these are mostly not grumpy employees, rather folks who have watched a once great company and culture fall apart. I left in 2017 for those reasons after 16 years. Wearing orange used to mean something so understand it is that passion you see here more times than not. BTW - that article was written by Forbes so not sure I would discount it as simply something online. Especially since it is pretty accurate.

@1fwy+13zqz9QX The good thing is that I am interviewing with 2 other places. Yeah sure the article shows gloom and doom, but I’ve seen similar articles of gloom and doom about companies like BestBuy, or Tesla and many others. I don’t know the internals of TD , you would probably know better. But I don’t think I would make decisions based on Articles on the internet. I see a lot of grumpy TD employees in here complaining and bashing anyone who would dare say anything positive about the company. But if you have time to come here and complain about all the bad things then you probably also have time to be prepared and move on to a different company and job. It would be beneficial for you to focus on the latter unless you are in charge of transformation and somehow think that complaining anonymously on this thread here would magically improve things in the company. Either way, I don’t work for TDC and looking at the people’s attitude here I think I’m lucky not to. Cheers! And thanks for the feedback.

@mtt+13zqz9QX If you are still interviewing after this article, you absolutely should work at TD. You are the exact type of employee that will be successful there.

It's time for the board to initiate a c-suite replacement and dump the badly architected, poorly performing and generally unwanted Vantage strategy. Those involved in driving the bus off the road need to be working elsewhere.

What internals knows for at least year with Vantage falsehoods, is visible to external analysts as well. Numbers do not lie and brace for more.

As an investor I love these articles. Drives the share price down and then I jump in on the action and score on the rise. Keep the negative articles as we keep making money

Stay away. TDC is a dying breed, with shrinking customer base, no new logos, old and inept management. Used to be a great company in past.

Very accurate report of current state of affairs at Teradata. Very clear that nobody will buy them and stock price will decline rapidly. Shame on the leadership team ... how do they sleep at night knowing what they are doing to this company.

I was looking for analysis of the shareholder value that was destroyed with the insane share buybacks and the future earnings required to recover the value.

Don't interview. All top level engineers are leaving. Others who are staying have been here so long that they can't fight the inertia or just too dumb to survive in the market outside
