Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Are people being fired or laid off???

There is a huge difference between the two, so I would really appreciate it if somebody could provide us with a clarification. I am worried enough as it is about layoffs, I really do not need to add firings to the mix as well (or I will need to up my meds intake.)

You are involuntary terminated, laid off sounds better. Anyone terminated in these sessions are given a package to buy out their unemployment, health insurance for X amount of months, and help in finding another job (however that is a joke). You sign a NDA and you are not eligible for rehire within the Kroger company. However, some managers have come back in the reset teams that are non employees. If you think or feel like you are going to get cut the process is very easy to tell. If you get a 2 on your PED, you are gone. District Managers are required to give out X amount of 2 to reduce management while HR is still hiring managers for a cheaper wage and less PTO.

NO PACKAGES THEY ARE GOING to fire people without packages. Beware. Next round is in few months. Start sending your resumees out and get out of there and be prepared. They wil also go after department managers too.

It’s so funny how they are offering special assignments to some people to keep them in their jobs, yet separating entire store teams on the other end.

Meetings are scheduled, people have already lost jobs. Of course it’s all our fault for not hitting sales, shrink or whatever they are pretending to track.

I didnt see anyone get replaced from lay offs in October younger or otherwise.
Several people were reassigned to take positions, but certainly no headcount was added to replace any vacancies

I agree they are hiring the young ones with no experience and they are not doing anything

I agree, there's a huge difference between "fired" and "laid off." As for never coming back, I have to call Bovine Scatology on that. After one-third of my department was laid off in early 2002, some did return over the following years, albeit in different or similar positions.

They call it laid off but face it you are not coming back. A lot of us with a lot of service were terminated in October and then quickly replaced by far much younger people. Sad a lot of experience and knowledge gone.
