The layoffs did not stop. It is just that they are carried discreetly. This week, the HR boss was boasting on the internal social media, that some departments were reorganized, which meant that 50 people were more or less made redundant. He missed this last part, until somebody pointed it out directly.
All this would not happen without the approval of the WoCo, that simply plays stupid by signing fake clauses of interest, disguised in employee protection tools.
In the meantime, the company just shifts departments, much to its liking, dodging any possible rule and paving the way for more layoffs.
Be aware, anything that gets incorporated in GBS will go the way of the dinosaurs. Almost anything IT, with some infra exceptions, will not be directly impacted till the middle of 2020, however the targets for the headcount cuts have already been set, so it is just going to be a matter for them to find any opportunity, be it myBest, rank and yank, team lineup, compliance, fake upskilling tests.

Plenty of smart asses saw the sign in the sky and left adi originals before the sh– hit the fan. Top dogs at Adidas skate (see shop eat surf article from today) have been laid off. What was the money maker is now a Jonah Hill backed category with Beyonce as a distraction. Adidas lost its way in 2015/6 when the Ultraboost fiasco and hiring germans to run “trend” and now hard working people is getting fired.
Anybody know what departments were affected in Portland?
a number of layoffs today at the Portland HQ
the S*+T is hitting the fan
The layoffs in Italy caused a sh*t storm: https://www.ilgiorno.it/monza-brianza/cronaca/adidas-licenziamenti-1.5005333
Of course everything backed up by the same templated statement about the company sustainability and the usual BS.
Hey, PR, try something new, fake numbers and statements about margins doesn't work anymore.
Of course, it will not be a surprise if they will use the virus crisis to justify layoffs.
The Herzo union and workers council should follow the example of adidas Italia and involve the authorities, instead of being silent accomplices:

Adidas will use the corona virus crisis as an excuse to fire more people!
Truly disgusting how they keep hiding things!
