It's a near certainty that you will be laid off at least once in your lifetime. Knowing this, what are you doing to prepare for the day when you're notified that your position has been eliminated? Do you have emergency savings to cover 6 months' expenses? Are you ready to find a new job tomorrow? Do you buy assets instead of liabilities? Do you have a side hustle? Or is hope your only strategy, thinking that your position is untouchable and too valuable?

I'm glad somebody finds some value in this posting. Unlike the majority of commenters who whine and kvetch, I try to offer a different perspective. As I said, it's almost a certainty that one will be laid off at least once. Per stoic philosophy, you can't control what happens to you, but you can control how you can react (and better yet, prepare). You need to ask yourself "If I got laid off today, what can I do to make the best of the situation?" and "How can I best prepare for the next company reorganization?"
This is good advise!
