Thread regarding Sears layoffs

List of 83 remaining Sears stores

This is a list of what I believe to be the remaining 83 Sears stores which are still open and not currently liquidating. I made this list by starting with the state-by-state store listings on https://www.sears.com/stores.html , then removing any stores that are on recent closing lists or for which I found media reports of the store closing.

I list here only locations that the state-by-state listings identify as "Sears Store"s. I do not include Hometown stores, Appliance Outlet stores, Service Centers Repair Drop off Locations, stand-alone Auto Centers (a few still exist), or any other location that is not called a "Sears Store" on the company's website.

The list does include a few locations for which their individual pages, or media reports, identify them as Grand (2), Appliance (1), Appliance & Mattress (3), or Home & Life (3) stores.

Although my list uses the same format as the Kmart List Man, I am not that person.

Please comment here if you know of any non-closing store that I omitted from the list, or if you know (preferably via linking to a trustworthy source) that a store on the list is closed or closing.

One more such listing on Sears.com

https://www.sears.com/stores/new-york/bronx/0005208.html (Bronx, NY: "Sears Kmart 9420 / Cross Merch # 5208")

Oddly, Kmart.com doesn't include that Brooklyn mini-store in its (way out of date) online Store Locator.

A few of the listings in the Sears.com store locator are really Kmart stores, though, such as these two:

https://www.sears.com/stores/new-york/bridgehampton/0005205.htmlm (Bridgehampton NY: "Sears Kmart 9423 / Cross Merch # 5205")

https://www.sears.com/stores/new-hampshire/west-lebanon/0002766.html (West Lebanon NH: "Sears Kmart 7048 / Cross Merch # 2766")

There are a few other "Cross Merch" listings, but these are the two I remember at the moment. Do the listings mean that these particular Kmart stores sell some Sears merchandise that is not found in most other Kmarts?

With respect to the below comment, the number of non-liquidating Kmarts is indeed 45 stores. There's a Kmart within a Sears in Brooklyn that continues to be left off this list. This particular Kmart opened a few years ago, not long before SHC bankruptcy.

Just 44 Kmarts, actually.

And if you also subtract the three Home & Life stores and the four Appliance & Mattress stores, the number of truly full-line stores is 126.

so with 89 sears left and 45 kmarts left
new total store count is 134 full line stores.
after the next round of closings it will most likely be under a 100 total stores left

@1bki+13ukxQev:

This article says that the Winchester VA Sears "will close by the end of February" of 2020.

https://www.winchesterstar.com/winchester_star/winchester-sears-store-to-close-by-february/article_a889faec-31f3-55fd-b4ac-656e4d810fe8.html

That store is also in the list of closures that Transformco announced last November:

Sears can learn not to screw their vendors and pay their bills from Ikea.

IKEA is a viable and successful nationwide chain with fewer locations than this. What could Sears learn from IKEA?

My question was about the format of the Honolulu store, because the Sears website doesn't specifically call it an Appliance and Mattress only store.

You had a question mark on the Honolulu appliance/mattress store. It’s there.... store 1681 in the Ala Moana Center. 13,000 sq. ft. of sell, opened late 2017.

Clearly the plan is to eventually shut them all down. This is not a viable chain.

That should say 83 Sears stores in US states, plus 6 in Puerto Rico, total of 89. But I can't edit the post or headline once I've posted it here.
