Do they summon everyone in the same room and announce layoffs? Do you have a 1:1 with HR? How is it done?

I was fired (not laid off) 2019 from Wayfair.
I was pulled into a room and told to pack up.
I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone I was being laid off, I just had to leave.
If I told anyone what actually happened, Wayfair would cut my 3 week severance package.
Super awkward experience.
I ended up going on unemployment for several weeks, but I was able to land on my feet and my take home salary increased by 60%!
Everything happens for a reason, and I’m glad I had a stupid senior manager who did everything in her power to get me fired for “underperforming “
