The other problem with Clicklist is that it's 10 years too late. Back in the early 2000s, when e-commerce was just taking off, Kroger and its divisions did NOTHING. It wasn't until 2015 that Clicklist made its debut, and by that time it was too little and too late. Amazon's buyout of Whole Foods was a master stroke and certainly raised the bar for Kroger's e-commerce efforts. I don't think Kroger has ever understood e-commerce, and Kroger's risk averse management makes me doubtful about the long-term prospects of Kroger's e-commerce future.
Because with the investment in clicklist the one big problem they are having is not having the product on the shelf to pick orders that are morning pickups. They are not going to have the pickers go in the back to look product to waste time and have late orders. The way they see it if online fails they amazon has won the retail wars and stops them from getting more stockholders and money.
