Received a letter today stating back in November, a phishing attempt on an employee was successful and the result was hackers obtained access to a large chunk of employees past and present personal info including SS #’s. Providing experian monitoring for a year when the impact could last a lifetime. The altice way.

What is the status of this lawsuit? I am interested in joining the movement. 1 year is BS.
My other suggestion is we should be able to sign up for identify theft protection that is normally offered through open enrollment. Not sure if it can be accessed now but I can see this is a "change of life" need.
Spread the word to every Altice / Cablevision employee you know to join this lawsuit. As well as everybody else you know who is a customer, as their info was stolen too. Unless of course you want to pay from your own pocket for protection.
"I don't think a class action lawsuit would see the light of day. In their defense Altice is going to say that they're a victim too and they are acting in good faith by offering a free year of credit monitoring."
- you're either a shill or just blissfully ignorant.🤷🏾♂🤷🏾♂
- perhaps you'd feel differently if you had your identity stolen or had a unusual drop to your FICO score preventing you from making major purchase
- for all we know this could be an inside job by the very people you seemingly defending. 🤷🏾♂🤦♂🤦♂
- if an independent investigation were to take place, it's very possible that Altice could be found responsible for the events that happened. 😡
- they claim that this all happened in November 2019 (around the same time as open enrollment when employees were accessing 3rd party sites and providing them with personal data) — 3 months later they decide to inform employees of the breach. 🤷🏾♂
- IMHO, 1 year of credit monitoring is a meaningless gesture. 😟
- this company's dirty laundry needs to be aired out. 3.5 years worth.
You sound like a company man or woman. I guess we'll see. All you can do is try. Or are you just willing to lay down and personally pay one of the credit agencies for the rest of your life so that nobody steals your identity You know as well as I do there's no way top-notch Security was installed on those servers. They're not a victim. We're the victims. The way this company operates financially everybody knew it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen. Like I said we'll see.

Cedric what kind of retaliation could they invoke to an ex-employee?
Cedric:
- current Altice employee here.
- please breakdown the process of pursuing a class action against Altice.
- how many employees are required to initially start the class action?
- being that Altice loves litigation.......how long could this possibly take to resolve?
- would the lead plaintiffs be required to testify in court?
- as far as retaliation is concerned, Altice/Cablevision has a long history of violating labor rights, therefore, we shouldn't expect them to behave any different now.
@2ktd+13rWWYOc, I wish that were true. For some types of class actions there are laws that prohibit retaliation, such as FLSA wage or overtime claims, ERISA cases, and labor law cases, and some states may have other protections, but for this kind of class action, there probably would not be any protection against retaliation. Plus, companies don't always follow the law.
It could still be worth it for a current employee to bring the case, since all 12,000 current employees were affected. But a former employee could do it with less fear of harassment. Call me if you're interested in taking part.
*employer not employee
Cedric you know an employee can’t legally retaliate if you were to try and get a class action lawsuit against them right?
Yes i also received letter. Not happy at all. So i get a yr worth of fraud alert, thanks no thanks! This is not OK!!! Now i have to worry about my identity being stolen. NOTHING like this ever happened when it was cablevision. These people are the devils.
My Bethpage cc was hacked last Friday
Approx $500 and $100 over max limit
Fraud investigation is ongoing
COINCIDENCE????
I got the same letter yesterday and I’m so disappointed at the lack of concern over personal data breaches. If they didn’t care to secure employee information do they really care about our customers? NO! They have cut so many jobs trying to save money I’m sure they skimped on the proper software to prevent this from happening! A year, really?? And they think we will be satisfied with that? Look at the billions equifax was fined for their breach. I would love to pursue a lawsuit if it would be worth it.
I work in the technical field and they have the proper Office 365 system in place to easily implement the necessary security which prevents this type of breach. They were negligent in doing this, probably due to management pushback. Management is apparently too lazy to two factor.
I received a letter as well and am very interested in pursuing legal action.
I’m a current employee and received the letter today. One year of monitoring is BS for not knowing ever, if and when, something is going to be used. However, my main concern would be A) can you only claim something if you’ve been actually harmed monetarily or via credit/accounts? And B) as a current employee I’d be worried about them being vindictive and firing those involved. What’s normal in scenarios like this?
To the gentleman who said they stopped the security measures, are you able to prove that?
Guys let me know when you're ready to sue! This is ridiculous!
I'm in who want to start a class action lawsuit? You know, this stuff was compromised because they canceled all the contracts for security On all their servers to save money. That could easily be proven in court. The Experian one-year protection is a crock As stated originally identity theft is a lifetime.
That's what happens when you want to cheap out everything. I have the same letter and left them a couple years ago. Im sure everyone from A-Z was all compromised since I'm toward the end of the spectrum. Clown show at it's finest. Can you say circus.
