What was/is the best and worst part of working at Allscripts?
For me, the worst were the leaders who ran departments like dictatorships. Control by fear and don’t delegate at all. The best part was the one day a year you could go out and volunteer.

Worst: Soul-drain
Best: Money
The worst was keeping me! The best was what followed after I was let go 2 years ago. So if you feel stuck, life gets better after being out of the lay-off - poor management grind it may not seem like it at first, but it will be.
These responses tell me that working at Allscripts is not much different than working at most other corporations. A sad reality of the corporate environment.
Well this is a fun thread.
I would say the best part was always being challenged. I thrive on any challenge and it made me do better. It made me perform better and write better code.
The best day? I was on frontline support at the time and it was a slow Friday afternoon. I suggested we all go home early. And my manager at the time approved it. It was one of the few times our system worked well - so much so that no support cases came in. That was probably when our product was at its best.
The worst? It’s hard to say because with upper management placing blame on everyone besides themselves there’s no singular worst day for me. Sometimes I keep wondering if it wasn’t for my severance I would be gone (it’s about 20K on the table). It’s frustrating because the leaders that knew what clients wanted are gone so a lot of developers are leading themselves. This is a bad thing. I don’t see any recourse.
I know my time is coming to an end and I’ll miss working at Allscripts or rather miss working on a product I helped create and develop for. But as they say on to greener pastures.
All of this to say I have no hope for Allscripts
Worst Day: Daily... D-Bag bosses and salespeople that lie to clients and their co-workers about how good our products and services are...
Best Day: The day I was laid off but coming in a tight second is daily with coming in late, leaving early. Two hour lunches sometimes with a margarita or two.
Best part coworkers. Worst part managers that don't know what the hell they're doing running around like chickens with their heads cut off yelling at everybody with no understanding of why they're really yelling.
This company likes to hire a bunch of misogynists supreme their egos on a daily basis by putting down all of the employees.
@7pbc+13o2JuCy: Accurate summary. There are still too many stoolies and still too many incompetent VPs.
Worst Parts:
Best Parts
Worst part? Logging in first thing, wondering if you password was disabled or you just fat fingered it
Worst Day: First day of work and realized what a bad decision I had made.
Best Day: Day I told my boss he's an ignorant jack-a– and left.
Hmmm, no lay-off info. This thread better served on Twitter.
I miss the camaraderie of a busy but successful Eclipsys activation. I would not miss the constant anxiety of when I might be laid off and when the axe will fall.
Worst part was from 8-5 when you had to deal with incompetent managers. Best part was driving home
