There were more layoffs yesterday and I'm assuming this week is not done (although I might be wrong.) This round wasn't in the U.S. but that doesn't mean anything these days - I wouldn't be surprised if it spilled over here once again.

Cortez .... diverse workforce is one thing .... offshoring and outsourcing to India/costa rica and now (insert country with cheap labor) to save money and screw our customers with terrible support is another
Diversity and inclusive are no one's strength. Absolutely no one's. Google (and other companies) just use those terms for pandering.
Cortez is the genius that was posting last year how awesome it was that SGAS was establishing safe zones.... agree that OPG has left the building....

That is too negative outlook my friend. Company now is moving in forward path. We are in style of modern companies, we have diverse workforce we have inclusivity. Make it this way, I have heard leadership study google culture and investors will value us for new Sungard. Sometimes correction for companies take time so we have to give leadership a chance.
In the past, I had some colleagues get the RIF in the first week in April. But it could be moved up sooner. Just my feeling. This place is obviously in the dreaded death spiral—cuts lead to declining revenues, which lead to more cuts, and so on, until everything is virtually wiped out. It’s over. I have my exit strategy, I’ll be joining a different company soon. I’m confident my coworkers will do well too. Lots of highly skilled people here. Good luck.

Be aware that this will pretty much be a quarterly occurrence.
If your a long time employee and hanging around for the exit package, be desperately aware that your offer will revolve around an equivalent of 1 weeks salary for every completed year you have served.
So, if this is a better financial option rather than jumping ship nice and early to secure a stable position elsewhere, then I wish you the best of luck.

step 1: start laying off Indians and South Americans
step 2: hire outsourcers staffed by Phillipinos and Chinese
step 3: turn over management of all network assets to outsourcers
step 4: lay off remaining Indians, South Americans, and US/UK staff
step 5: start demanding 10% cost reductions from outsourcers ever year to finally meet cost savings objectives in network space.
step 6: turn out the lights, the party is over.
