Amazing how course shells for adjuncts are set up with a student placeholder months ahead, the student is then eliminated closer to session and then course is finally cancelled yet the expectation is for adjunct faculty to train, set up course and participate with "team" ahead of time on their own time. What a joke!

I retired from Devry when they cut pay for adjuncts. At one time, 10 or so years ago, it was a great gig. But lately, it seems to have taken a flush.
This has happened to me so many times. You can see the courses are filled with students, but they lie at the last minute saying the course has been cancelled. Or, they say nothing and just delete it. How can people sleep at night treating people this way? It's a sinking ship.
Do you still have to do the useless live lectures?
Visiting professors are now given "tentative" assignments some time in advance that are usually canceled one day before the class is supposed to start with no notice, and the class is given to a full time employee in an onlive session. This "tentative" scheduling has long been the way that employees with low skills and low education have been treated, especially those in fast food and retail - see this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/06/27/brutal-psychological-toll-erratic-work-schedules/.
When a company treats its visiting professors, who are required to hold at least a master's degree, like this then there is no incentive for them to accept work or even be associated with the company. The DeVry managers have adopted a management style that is completely the opposite of what is required for professional employees, and have finally ended the company. As someone posted previously 2019 did turn out to be the end for DeVry.
Looks like adjuncts are assigned 1 student as a placeholder just in case they are needed. Closer to time the course is assigned to full time faculty in an onlive section. Treated like indentured servants.
The company rewards lap-dogs with no conscience.
Sometimes the course is not "cancelled" but reassigned to someone else who was favorites with the scheduling regime but they lie that it was cancelled.
Yup. Cancelled again after adjusting my schedule. No communication whatsoever. I think everyone has email and a phone. So disrespectful.
that's the cutting edge new model of "team-teaching" where adjuncts I suppose teaching it to the team.
