Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Still no word on a Florida contract!

I was told that the company and union were supposed to get back to the table last week. Still no updates from the union. WORTHLESS!!! The least they could do is FIGHT and keep the members updated! They must be busy shining up all those fancy trucks of theirs in the parking lot.

Decertify takes a year. We tried years ago to jump IBEW and join with CWA 1170 out of Rochester. Without anything for an entire year would leave you with your pardon expression "Union Suit" with your drop seat down.

I listened to the CWA town hall conference call this past week. CWA has their stuff together. They had a definite plan to fight for their members.

I think the IBEW membership should vote out IBEW and organize under CWA. IBEW leadership just keeps telling you "it'll be ok, just wait, we have Frontier right where we want them"... Why the hell are they waiting until Feb 25th to start negotiations again? I'll tell you what's going to happen, the Union will slide over their written proposal to the company and the company will walk right out the back door to the bankruptcy judge. "Here judge, this is why we're in this hole we're in, look how unreasonable these employees are, they want double what any other local employees want in the same career field locally".

Say it with me, sixteen thousand million dollars in debt...

Not sure why people are so worried about getting a new contract. We all know a new contract is just going to screw us out of money. Most likely paying more for ins.

Lies, lies, lies - we were told by the union that when the Ct contract get finalized "Nov" that they would start with our contract in FL. Almost 3 months later and nothing - what fools some people are. If you haven't retired by now ,don't worry anymore you will have 2 yrs or more to think about how much money you lost after the bankruptcy and good chance for a ugly little payment monthly and they make all the money on your interest... God bless - try praying may help....

My coach says that the union don’t care about us and they only want our money.

There was a Town Hall meeting today in Tampa with Melanie Williams. She was directly asked about why the company wasn’t negotiating. Apparently she said they’re definitely negotiating as we speak. Not that we can believe her or even pretend to think that she has an idea about what goes on around here. If this is true why don’t we get this update from our own union?

if you honestly think a contract is in FL future then you're completely insane! with bankruptcy coming next month, the only contract you will be getting is what the bankruptcy judge decides you will get. way too late, at least CWA had the guts to strike in their territories when necessary, timing is everything.

You know there is a process to decertify the local if they wont work for the people. I am sure CWA could get things done for you, got West Virginia almost all that they wanted. Just saying..

Well tomorrow February 7th is the general meeting at 730PM. The hall is located at 6603 E. Chelsea st, Tampa, FL 33610. Going to go and see how "close we are to a new contract" for myself as the Union or any Steward I've talked to hasn't said a word either way.

IBEW 824 is beyond worthless. It’s quite possibly the weakest union in the United States. Frontier knows this. They have been stalling for 3 years regarding call routing with them.

A company that files Bankruptcy is not concerned about finalizing a union contract. If they hold out until the court sets out the rules for restructuring, you may end up on the outside looking in at your cheap replacements.

We are so close to a new contract that you wouldn’t believe it. We just need everyone to stay positive and keep paying your dues. IBEW strong!!

IBEW, if you need some help, the CWA can offer up some pointers.
