The units in Hon recovered, Rezi didn't. Dreamland in Hon - not at all. But delivery continues and stock climbs. Rezi went the other direction.
That Hon CTO (who is still @ Hon making less than optimal executive decisions and came from some small acquisition of scanning devices) hired the famous colorful ex CTO of Rezi with the help of the CMO. Already earlier on there were signs that this Ex CTO at Rezi made fateful decisions, each one worse as time went on. (everyone that applied his random edicts got promoted no matter the damage)
In the end... While some actions may have been talked about @ Hon before the spin, once the spin was underway that ex CTO could have changed course at any time especially after the January or February event in Florida.... (An stellar example is the poor decision and crazy timeline transfer of Brno to Bangalore -which was finalized at the event - I was there). Instead that ex CTO doubled down on everything... every day...with the result we know, textbook mistakes.
But that single person at that level cannot not alone sink the company. That was the work of the people below which went at it with gusto. (and got promoted for it)
You see the problem is no matter what Hon did, changing course was possible all along (Its called leadership) and required knowledge and courage. That is missing. and thus many of the decisions from the engineering / marketing perspective did not make sense.
So we can cry about Hon, but its been 2 years as some have pointed. yet we still have poor decision making.
On the other stuff about Hon...this obsession of blaming Hon after the divorce and everyone else from Hon (Rezi was Hon) is 99% of the company! This is slowing down recovery.
If one function at a certain level, in any organization whether a google or any large global corp (read not a small acquisition), people do not like management that is nice to people above but nasty to their people, or manipulative, or obviously trying to curry favors. Not really Hon but human nature. Lets remember that this is not about being nice or nasty but effective. Nice but constantly passing the buck is as destructive as nasty and passing the buck. End result is the same.
As long as we use Hon as the excuse or crutch we will be at the same place in 20 years. Hoping to "refresh" all 14K employees. That approach is mostly done in small companies (such as the RSI you mention) and unrealistic once you pass a couple hundred.
The real management is to turn people around despite what cards you got dealt with by fate.
Asking for a new deck every time you have cards that you don't like is really not management it is a tantrum.
So maybe lets stop blaming Hon (and glorifying the CEO who clearly was out of depth) as this demonizes 99% of the company.....-Really. please stop this it is not useful no matetr the verbiage.

To put this round of layoffs into perspective, prior to the spin-off, there were supply chain issues. (This is noted in the lawsuits.) I have first-hand knowledge that it wasn't one group's fault per se. Those issues had been precipitated by the senior management directive to minimize working capital (i.e., component inventory) therefore not generate requisitions/PO's. Electronic component manufacturing capacity worldwide was already strained and we (HON/REZI) were not prime customers (think long payment terms to our suppliers).

This starved out production lines and caused internal "jumping through hoops" to source and then supply. Not optimal obviously. PwC identified that in their study (2017) and finally the purse strings got loosed in late 2018. Too late. Production lines that had been idled lost capable lines people and bringing on new ones made it hard to increase productivity.

Note: The fall out of the REZI reputation with customers and industry is not really going away anytime soon. I can't really speak about the products themselves though many here are very expert on their utility.

Organizationally, there was a lot of hope riding on Nefkins for REZI though he inherited legacy HON people that brought us to our current situation. FIngerpointing and "attacking" the weak/personable people is a leftover HON culture. So is making the "underlings" do the dirty work.

Many senior management personnel have such wealth due to HON/REZI. I overheard some of them comparing how "big" their war chests were, like number of classic cars in their possession and their third or fourth home at some vacation paradise.

The ones who were creating the roadshow really were optimistic in their projections (firsthand knowledge) and set up unrealistic expectations for REZI. This would make REZI more attractive. Please note that residence + presidio should be Residio (proper portmanteau) rather than Resideo which may more accurately describe RSI Video.

What we're seeing is the result of the "infrastructure" laid down (and by BCG) for REZI.

So much for the "Day Zero" and "Day One" rah-rah when we spun-off in Oct. 2018.

Working from is not the problem. Please stop these useless comments. The issues we have are so far and wide. Working from home is the least of them. Again, let's focus on keeping high performers and eradicating low performers and culture destroyers. After we solve that problem, let's figure out if working from home makes sense.

The fact that there are convos about working from home and when most of them are in IT tells me that we are not out of the woods yet.
Those-work from home are like a boat anchor. Their management need to act and bring them in line instead of slacking from some southern location

When will we know the outcome of BCG? Will it be a one time m—acre or will it drag on for months?

@1jbv... dumbest post of 2020, and i don't even work from home. This kind of thinking is what brings us backwards into the HW mindset and culture. How about we try this novel idea: reward those who are performers and get stuff done, and discipline or fire those who don't. Who cares where they work?

People should come to the office and work. Everyone knows people who work from home work only half the time at best. Work from home is what is destroying the company, has been for a while.

People getting fired for working from home is not true. Definitely not in Melville.

Actually, that is correct. Security in all buildings are directed to run reports from the systems and reach out to the bosses of anyone who has not been in the office in more than two weeks and CC HR.... Ask some of the folks who were told they need to work in a Hub location or some of the ones that were just laid off how funny it is..

What is the level you mean by leadership team? Quite a few of those leaders are the one that brought us where we are and won’t change they are just keeping quiet

BCG is running the show here despite what some leaders might tell you. They are making reorg & cut suggestions with little regard for long term sustainability of the company and our "leadership team" is too afraid to push back. They are just keeping quiet and waiting for BCG to go away. This is the 2nd round of RIFs (3rd in some groups ) since the spin so employee moral is really great right now.

BLR not affected as it has full support from Melville managers and directors??
There is a group that is less than 5 years from a juicy pension that constantly speaks from both corners of the mouth, one side says BLR is not good the other side says it’s working ok.
The tactic is to string rezi long enough so they can take their fat pension. Those are really the ones promoting this approach of spinning for no real end results.
Some of the posters were right let’s get rid of them.

Not OP but numbers I have been seeing for a few days now is down between 19% and 21% or so across the business depending on who's spinning the numbers.

As for cuts I too heard several groups took hits this week. Actually since Mid January but picking up this week in numbers. Heard Melville, GV and several (many) Work from Home. They are definitely using the "you don't work in an office so you need to move or leave" strategy as a tool to help clean house. Be careful all...key swipes are being watched.

Anyone have any lawsuit updates? I had heard about settling out of court for crazy amounts of cash...like go out of business amounts but haven't heard anything in a while.

Support org from M the stain are notoriously not effective and “work” from home. Like previously said they fudge the numbers and play with words....as for ... well you saw lumina, torch as the latest shining example for PO (people that think they are) gone rogue or Titan months ago where the midget PO from Rolle wasn’t from marketing...it is in shambles under moobs
